Palabra de apertura
One of the criminals who was crucified with Christ,
repented and put all his hope in the Lord.
That very same day he, together with Jesus,
entered the kingdom of heaven.
His hope was not disappointed.
In this Eucharist, we too will meet the Lord.
He wants to enlighten our hearts and minds.
Let us too be converted to Christ our hope.
In this celebration, we pray especially for the young people,
who are searching for direction and meaning in their lives.
Let us support them and pray for them,
that they be guided by Christ our King.
FIRST READING 2 Sam. 5, 1-3
They anointed David king over Israel.
In those days all the tribes of Israel
came to David in Hebron and said:
“Here are we, your own flesh and blood…,
Before, when Saul still ruled over us,
it was you who led the troops of Israel.
Moreover, the LORD has assured you:
You shall shepherd my people Israel;
it is you who shall rule over Israel.”
All the elders of Israel came to the king in Hebron
and King David made a covenant with them
before the LORD
and they anointed David king over Israel.
Answer Psalm Ps 122(121) 1-23, 3-4ab, 4cd-5
Entrebillo
Full of joy we go to God’s house.
How happy was I, when one called to me:
“We are going to God’s house!”
Now may my foot, Jerusalem,
may enter your gates.
Jerusalem, walled city,
so densely built.
To thee do the tribes march,
the tribes of God’s people.
They go according to Israel’s custom
worship the name of God.
There stand the seats of justice,
the throne of David’s house.
SECOND READING Col 1:12-20
He has transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.
Brothers and sisters,
Joyfully we thank God, the Father,
for enabling you
to share in the inheritance of the saints
and to live in the light.
He has snatched us from the domain of darkness
and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.
In Him our deliverance is assured
and our sins are forgiven.
He is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn of all creation.
For in Him all things were created
in the heavens and on the earth,
the visible and the invisible,
thrones and highs,
dominions and powers.
The universe was created by Him and for Him.
He exists before everything and everything exists in Him.
He is also the head of the body that is the church.
He is the origin,
the first to rise from the dead
to be supreme in all things,
He alone.
For in Him God has willed to dwell in all His fullness,
to reconcile the universe to Himself through Him
and to make peace through the blood, shed on the cross,
to reconcile all things in heaven and on earth,
through Him alone.
Verse for the gospel Mk 11:9-10
Alleluia.
Blessed the coming in the name of the Lord,
praised the coming kingdom of our father David !
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Lk. 23:35-43
Lord, remember me, when you have come into your kingdom.
From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke
As Jesus hung on the cross
the people stood watching
but the government officials laughed at Him and said:
“Others He saved;
let Him save Himself for once
if He is the Messiah of God,
the chosen one!”
The soldiers brought Him sour wine,
and they too mockingly added to Him:
“If thou art the king of the Jews ,
then save Thyself.”
Above Him was inscribed
in Greek, Roman and Hebrew letters:
“This is the King of the Jews.”
One of the criminals hanging there also hated Him:
“Art thou not the Messiah?
Then save Thyself and us.”
But the other punished Him, saying:
“Have even you no fear of God
while still undergoing the same judgment?
And we are rightly undergoing that judgment,
for we receive what we have earned by our deeds;
but He has done nothing wrong.”
To that he said:
“Jesus!
remember me
when thou art come into thy kingdom.”
And Jesus spoke to him:
“Verily, I say unto thee:
This very day thou shalt be with Me in paradise.”

Encyclical of
POPE FRANCISCUS
On caring for the common home
193. While in some cases sustainable development will bring new
forms of growth will entail, in other cases one must
in the face of eager and irresponsible growth that has taken place for many decades , it is necessary to remember to hold the pace somewhat
back, set some reasonable limits and also retrace one’s steps
return, before it is too late. We know that the behaviour of those who increasingly consume and destroy is unsustainable, while others fail to
manage to live in accordance with their own human dignity. Therefore
the hour has come to accept a certain reduction in growth in some parts
of the world to accept and provide aid so that in other
parts can grow in a healthy way. Benedict XVI said that “it is necessary
is for technologically advanced societies to be prepared to adopt a
behaviour characterised by frugality by reducing their own
energy consumption and improving the conditions for its use
improving”.
