Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde van het evangelie.
Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd, kan die vreugde ervaren
door zijn hart open te stellen voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Iedere dag beschikbaar.

Overweging
Hoe langer we naar Jezus kijken en zijn woorden en daden bewonderen, hoe meer we geboeid worden door zijn volgehouden en fijngevoelige liefde voor kinderen, kleinen en zwakken, zondaars! Hij had en heeft echt een hart voor de mens. Hijzelf is zachtmoedig en nederig van hart. Daarom kan hij rust en verlichting schenken aan uitgeputte en moedeloze mensen. Zijn idealen zijn geen verlammend juk. Wij kunnen ze dragen en er gelukkig onder worden, indien we, zoals Hij, willen groeien naar de intimiteit met God, onze liefdevolle Vader.

EERSTE  LEZING       Deut. 7, 6-11
De Heer heeft u bemind en u uitverkoren.

Uit het boek Deuteronomium

In die dagen sprak Mozes tot het volk:

“Gij zijt een volk, dat aan de Heer uw God gewijd is.
“U heeft Hij uit alle volken op aarde uitverkoren
om zijn eigen volk te zijn.
“Niet omdat gij talrijker zijt dan de andere volken
heeft de Heer zich aan u verbonden en u uitverkoren,
want gij zijt het kleinste van alle volken;
maar omdat de Heer u liefhad
en Hij de eed aan uw vaderen gestand wilde doen;
daarom heeft Hij u met sterke hand
uit het land van de slavernij geleid
en u verlost uit de macht van de Farao, de koning van Egypte.

“Erken dan dat de Heer uw God inderdaad God is,
de getrouwe God, die het verbond gestand doet,
die vol erbarmen is voor wie Hem liefhebben
en zijn geboden onderhouden tot in het duizendste geslacht,
maar die allen die Hem verwerpen,
in hun eigen persoon straft en te gronde richt, hen persoonlijk.
“Hij wacht niet: Iemand die hem verwerpt, straft Hij,
hem persoonlijk.
“Volbreng dus de geboden, voorschriften en bepalingen
die ik u heden voorschrijf.”

Antwoordpsalm            Ps. 103(102), 1-2, 3-4, 6-7, 8 en 10

Keervers Gods erbarmen blijft altijd en eeuwig.

Verheerlijk, mijn ziel, de Heer,
zijn heilige Naam uit het diepst van uw wezen !
Verheerlijk, mijn ziel, de Heer,
vergeet zijn weldaden niet !

Hij is het die u uw schulden vergeeft,
die u geneest van uw kwalen.
Hij is het die u van de ondergang redt,
die u omringt met zijn gunst en erbarmen.

De Heer is rechtvaardig in al wat Hij doet,
Hij laat de verdrukten recht wedervaren.
Hij maakte aan Mozes zijn wegen bekend,
Hij toonde zijn werken aan Israëls volk.

De Heer is barmhartig en welgezind,
lankmoedig en goedertieren.
Hij handelt met ons niet zoals wij verdienen,
vergeldt ons niet onze schuld.

TWEEDE  LEZING          1 Joh. 4, 7-16
God heeft ons eerst liefgehad.

Uit de eerste brief van de heilige apostel Johannes

Vrienden,

Laten wij elkander liefhebben
want de liefde komt van God.
Iedereen die liefheeft, is een kind van God,
en kent God.
De mens zonder liefde kent God niet,
want God is liefde.
En de liefde die God is,
heeft zich onder ons geopenbaard
doordat Hij zijn enige Zoon in de wereld gezonden heeft,
om ons het leven te brengen.

Hierin bestaat de liefde:
Niet wij hebben God liefgehad,
maar Hij heeft ons liefgehad,
en Hij heeft zijn Zoon gezonden
om door het offer van zijn leven
onze zonden uit te wissen.

Vrienden,
als God ons zozeer heeft liefgehad,
moeten ook wij elkander liefhebben.
Nooit heeft iemand God gezien,
maar als wij elkaar liefhebben,
woont God in ons,
en is zijn liefde in ons volmaakt geworden.
Dit is het bewijs dat wij in Hem verblijven
zoals Hij verblijft in ons,
dat Hij ons deel heeft gegeven van zijn Geest.
En wij, wij hebben gezien en wij getuigen,
dat de Vader zijn Zoon heeft gezonden
om de Heiland van de wereld te zijn.
Als iemand erkent dat Jezus de Zoon van God is,
woont God in hem en woont hij in God.
Zo hebben wij de liefde leren kennen die God voor ons heeft,
en wij geloven in haar.
God is liefde: Wie in de liefde woont,
woont in God en God is met hem.

Esta invitación tiene como objetivo hacerle partícipe de la alegría del Evangelio.
Todo el mundo, sin excepción, puede experimentar esa alegría
abriendo su corazón a la acción sanadora de la palabra de Dios.

Disponible todos los días.

Consideración
Cuanto más miramos a Jesús y admiramos sus palabras y sus obras, más nos cautiva su amor constante y sensible por los niños, los pequeños y los débiles, ¡los pecadores! Él tenía y tiene de verdad un corazón para con el ser humano. Él mismo es manso y humilde de corazón. Por eso puede dar paz y alivio a las personas agotadas y desanimadas. Sus ideales no son un yugo paralizante. Podemos llevarlos y ser felices con ellos, si, como Él, queremos crecer hacia la intimidad con Dios, nuestro Padre amoroso.

PRIMERA LECTURA            Deut . 7, 6-11
El Señor os ha amado y os ha elegido.

Del libro del Deuteronomio

En aquellos días, Moisés dijo al pueblo:

«Sois un pueblo consagrado al Señor tu Dios.
«Él os ha elegido de entre todos los pueblos de la tierra
para ser su pueblo.
«No es porque seáis más numerosos que los demás pueblos
se ha unido a vosotros y os ha elegido el Señor,
pues sois el más pequeño de todos los pueblos;
sino porque el Señor os amaba
y quiso cumplir el juramento hecho a vuestros padres;
por eso os sacó con mano poderosa
sacado de la tierra de la esclavitud

De la primera carta del santo apóstol Juan

Amigos,

amémonos unos a otros,
porque el amor viene de Dios.
Todo el que ama es hijo de Dios
y conoce a Dios.
El que no ama no conoce a Dios,
porque Dios es amor.
Y el amor que es Dios
se ha manifestado entre nosotros
al enviar a su único Hijo al mundo,
para traernos la vida.

En esto consiste el amor:
No fuimos nosotros quienes amamos a Dios,
sino que Él nos amó,
y Él envió a su Hijo
para que, mediante el sacrificio de su vida,
borrar nuestros pecados.

Amigos,
si Dios nos ha amado tanto,
también nosotros debemos amarnos los unos a los otros.
Nadie ha visto jamás a Dios,
pero si nos amamos unos a otros,
Dios mora en nosotros,
y su amor se ha perfeccionado en nosotros.
Esta es la prueba de que permanecemos en Él
como Él permanece en nosotros,
que nos ha dado parte de su Espíritu.
Y nosotros, hemos visto y damos testimonio
que el Padre ha enviado a su Hijo
para que sea el Salvador del mundo.
Si alguien reconoce que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios,
Dios mora en él y él mora en Dios.
Así hemos conocido el amor que Dios nos tiene,
y creemos en ella.

habita en Dios y Dios está con él.

Consideration
The longer we look at Jesus and admire his words and deeds, the more we are captivated by his steadfast and tender love for children, the little ones and the weak, sinners! He truly had and has a heart for humanity. He himself is gentle and humble of heart. That is why he can offer rest and relief to those who are exhausted and despondent. His ideals are not a paralysing yoke. We can bear them and find happiness in them, if, like Him, we wish to grow in intimacy with God, our loving Father.

FIRST READING              Deut. 7, 6-11
The Lord has loved you and chosen you.

From the Book of Deuteronomy

In those days Moses spoke to the people:

“You are a people set apart for the Lord your God.
“He has chosen you from all the peoples on earth
to be his own people.
“It is not because you are more numerous than any other nation

but because the Lord loved you
and He wished to fulfil the oath He swore to your forefathers;

Friends,

Let us love one another
for love comes from God.

and knows God.
A person without love does not know God,
for God is love.
And the love that is God
has been revealed among us
by sending his only Son into the world,
to bring us life.

This is what love consists of:
It was not we who loved God,
but He loved us,
and He sent His Son
to wipe out our sins
to take away our sins.

Friends,
if God has loved us so much,
we too must love one another.
No one has ever seen God,
but if we love one another,
God dwells in us,
and his love is made complete in us.
This is the proof that we abide in Him
just as He abides in us,
that He has given us a share of His Spirit.
And we have seen and testify
that the Father has sent His Son
to be the Saviour of the world.
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God,
God dwells in him and he in God.
In this way we have come to know the love God has for us,
and we believe in it.

Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Overweging

De evangelielezing van vandaag schetst het beeld van de geloofsverkondiger. Die ziet Gods genade werkzaam aanwezig in de gemeenschap die hij bezoekt. We horen dat leerlingen die in dienst staan van de Heer en voor zijn Kerk werken, door anderen voorzien moeten worden van onderdak en voeding. In een wereld waarin prestaties, winst, strategie en marketing het hoogst scoren op de welvaartschaal, klinkt de boodschap van vandaag vreemd, haast onbegrijpelijk, en in elk geval moeilijk toe te passen. De heilige Barnabas nodigt ons uit grootmoedig te zijn en het niet te snel op te geven.

EERSTE LEZING           Hand. 11, 21b-26 ; 13, 1-3
Hij was een goed man, vol van de heilige Geest en geloof.

Uit de Handelingen van de Apostelen

In die dagen
kwamen zeer velen tot het geloof
en bekeerden zich tot de Heer.
Het gerucht omtrent het optreden van de volgelingen van de Heer
kwam ook de kerk van Jeruzalem ter ore
en men vaardigde Barnabas af naar Antiochië.
Toen deze daar aankwam
en Gods genade zag,
verheugde hij zich
en wekte allen op met hart en ziel de Heer trouw te blijven.
Hij was een goed man,
vol van de heilige Geest en geloof.

Veel mensen werden voor de Heer gewonnen.

Daarop vertrok hij naar Tarsus
om Saulus te gaan zoeken.
Toen hij hem gevonden had
bracht hij hem naar Antiochië.
Een vol jaar namen zij deel aan de bijeenkomsten in die gemeente
en gaven onderricht aan een grote menigte.
Het was in Antiochië
dat de leerlingen voor het eerst christenen werden genoemd.

Er waren daar in de gemeente profeten en leraren :
Barnabas, die Simon die Niger genoemd werd,
Lucius uit Cyrene,
Manaën, jeugdvriend van de viervorst Herodes, en Saulus.
Terwijl ze eens voor de Heer de heilige dienst verrichtten
en vastten,
sprak de heilige Geest :
“Zondert Mij Barnabas en Saulus af voor het werk
waartoe Ik hen heb geroepen.”
Na vasten en gebed legden ze hun toen de handen op
en lieten hen vertrekken.

TUSSENZANG               Ps. 98(97), 1, 2-3ab, 3c-4, 5-6

De Heer deed de volkeren zijn gerechtigheid kennen.

Zingt voor de Heer een nieuw gezang
omdat Hij wonderen deed.
Zijn hand deed zich krachtig gelden,
de macht van zijn heilige arm.

Zijn weldaden deed Hij ons kennen,
de volkeren zijn gerechtigheid.
Opnieuw bleek zijn goedheid en trouw
ten gunste van Israëls huis.

Geheel de aarde aanschouwde
wat onze God voor ons deed.
Verheerlijkt de Heer, alle landen,
weest blij, verheugt u en zingt.

Zingt voor de Heer bij de citer,
met citer en psalterspel.
Laat schallen trompet en bazuin
en danst voor de Heer, uw koning.

om er uw gordels mee te vullen.

“Als gij in een stad of in een dorp komt, onderzoekt dan
wie waard is u te ontvangen,

maar wanneer het die niet waard is,

¿Puedo llamar su atención sobre la lectura diaria del Evangelio?

Esta invitación tiene por objeto hacerle partícipe de la alegría del Evangelio.

pueden experimentar esa alegría abriendo su corazón
a la acción sanadora de la palabra de Dios.

Consideración

La lectura del Evangelio de hoy esboza la figura del predicador de la fe. Este ve la gracia de Dios actuando en la comunidad que visita. Oímos que los discípulos que están al servicio del Señor y trabajan para su Iglesia deben ser acogidos y alimentados por los demás. En un mundo en el que el rendimiento, el beneficio, la estrategia y el marketing ocupan los primeros puestos en la escala de la prosperidad, el mensaje de hoy suena extraño, casi incomprensible y, en cualquier caso, difícil de aplicar. San Bernabé nos invita a ser generosos y a no rendirnos demasiado pronto.

PRIMERA LECTURA                            Hch 11, 21b-26 ; 13, 1-3
Era un hombre bueno, lleno del Espíritu Santo y de fe.

De los Hechos de los Apóstoles

En aquellos días,
muchos abrazaron la fe
y se convirtieron al Señor.
La noticia de la actuación de los seguidores del Señor
llegó también a oídos de la Iglesia de Jerusalén,
y enviaron a Bernabé a Antioquía.
Cuando llegó allí,
y vio la gracia de Dios,
se alegró
y animó a todos a permanecer fieles al Señor con todo su corazón y toda su alma.
Era un hombre bueno,
lleno del Espíritu Santo y de fe.

Muchas personas se convirtieron al Señor.

A continuación, partió hacia Tarso
para buscar a Saulo.
Cuando lo encontró,
lo llevó a Antioquía.
Durante todo un año participaron en las reuniones de aquella iglesia
e instruían a una gran multitud.
Fue en Antioquía
donde los discípulos fueron llamados cristianos por primera vez.

En aquella iglesia había profetas y maestros:
Bernabé, llamado Simón el Niger,
Lucio de Cirene,
Manaén, amigo de la infancia del tetrarca Herodes, y Saulo.
Mientras una vez celebraban el culto al Señor
y ayunaban,
el Espíritu Santo dijo:
«Apartadme a Bernabé y a Saulo para la obra
a la que los he llamado».
Tras ayunar y orar, les impusieron las manos
y los dejaron partir.

Consideration

Today’s Gospel reading paints a picture of the preacher. He sees God’s grace at work in the community he visits. We hear that disciples who are in the service of the Lord and work for his Church must be provided with lodging and food by others. In a world where performance, profit, strategy and marketing rank highest on the scale of prosperity, today’s message sounds strange, almost incomprehensible, and in any case difficult to put into practice. Saint Barnabas invites us to be generous and not to give up too quickly.

From the Acts of the Apostles

In those days,
a great many came to the faith
and turned to the Lord.
News of the deeds of the Lord’s followers
reached the church in Jerusalem,
and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.
When he arrived there,
and saw the grace of God,
he rejoiced and encouraged everyone to remain faithful to the Lord
with all their heart and soul.
He was a good man,
full of the Holy Spirit and faith.

Many people were won over to the Lord.

He then set out for Tarsus
to look for Saul.
When he had found him,
he brought him to Antioch.
For a full year they attended the meetings of that church
and taught a large crowd.
It was in Antioch
that the disciples were first called Christians.

There were prophets and teachers in the church there:
Barnabas, who was also called Simon Niger,
Lucius of Cyrene,
Manaen, a childhood friend of Herod the Tetrarch, and Saul.
While they were once performing sacred service for the Lord
and fasting,
the Holy Spirit spoke:
“Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work

After fasting and praying, they laid their hands on them
and sent them off.

Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Overweging

Gezien tegen de historische achtergrond, was het voor de godsdienst van Israël  een formidabele uitdaging om stand te houden in een wereld van fascinerende goden en godinnen. Elia wordt gezien als de compr0misloze en onverbiddelijke kampioen tegen de afgodendienst. Een veel groter kwaad  dan alle andere zware zonden.
Samen met de theologische  implicaties, moeten we ook de literaire kwaliteiten van het stuk bewonderen.  Met striemende ironie  maakt de al te menselijke God van de Baälprofeten belachelijk. Roep wat luider: misschien is hij ingedut.

EERSTE LEZING               1 Kon. 18, 20-39

Geef antwoord, opdat dit volk erkent dat Gij, Heer,
de ware god zijt, en keer zo hun hart weer tot U.

Uit het eerste Boek der Koningen

In die dagen
zond konig Achab een boodschap aan alle Israëlieten
en liet alle profeten op de berg Karmel bijeenkomen.
Elia verscheen voor heel het volk en vroeg :
“Hoe lang blijft gij nog op twee gedachten hinken ?
“Als de Heer God is, volg Hem dan ;
is het Baäl, volg dan Baäl.”
Maar de mensen gaven hem geen antwoord.
Toen zei Elia tot het volk :
“Ik ben de enige profeet van de Heer die overgebleven is ;
de profeten van Baäl zijn vierhonderd man sterk.
“Geef ons twee stieren.
“Laat de profeten van Baäl een van beide stieren uitkiezen,
hem aan stukken houwen en op het hout leggen ;
ze mogen het hout echter niet aansteken.
“Dan zal ik de andere stier klaarmaken en op het hout leggen,
maar ook het hout niet aansteken.
“Roep dan de naam van uw god aan ;
ik zal de naam van de Heer aanroepen ;
de god die door vuur antwoordt is de ware god.”
En heel het volk riep :
“Dat is goed.”
Toen zei Elia tot de profeten van Baäl :
“Begint gij maar met het uitkiezen van de stier
en met hem klaar te maken, want gij zijt met velen.
“Roept dan de naam van uw god aan ;
maar ge moogt geen vuur aansteken.”
Zij namen dus de stier die hun gegeven werd,
maakten hem klaar en riepen van de ochtend tot de middag
de naam van Baäl aan :
“Baäl, geef ons antwoord !”
Maar er klonk geen geluid en er kwam geen antwoord,
hoe zij ook sprongen rond het altaar dat zij gebouwd hadden.
Toen het middag geworden was, riep Elia ze spottend toe :
“Roept toch wat harder; hij is immers een god.
“Hij is zeker in gedachten verzonken
of hij heeft zich afgezonderd of is op reis ;
misschien slaapt hij wel en moet hij gewekt worden.”
Toen riepen ze nog harder
en kerfden zich naar gewoonte met zwaarden en speren,
tot het bloed langs hun lijf droop.

Het middaguur verstreek,
maar zij gingen uitzinnig ermee door
tot de tijd van het avondoffer ;
maar er klonk geen geluid en er kwam geen antwoord :
Zij vonden geen gehoor.
Nu zei Elia tot het volk :
“Kom dichterbij.”
En allen kwamen dichter bij hem staan.
Toen richtte hij het altaar van de Heer,
dat omvergehaald was, weer op.
Hij nam twaalf stenen,
overeenkomstig het aantal stammen
van de zonen van Jakob,
tot wie de Heer gezegd heeft :
Israël zult gij heten.
Van die stenen bouwde hij een altaar voor de Heer,
maakte rondom het altaar een geul
met een inhoud van twee maten zaaikoren,
stapelde de houtblokken op elkaar,
hakte de stier in stukken en legde die op het hout.
Toen zei hij :
“Vul vier kruiken met water
en giet die uit over het brandoffer en het hout.”
Daarna zei hij :
Doe het nogmaals.”
En toen ze het nogmaals gedaan hadden, zei hij :
“Nu voor de derde keer.”
Toen ze het voor de derde keer gedaan hadden,
stroomde het water langs alle kanten van het altaar af ;
ook de geul liet hij met water vullen.
Toen het uur van het avondoffer gekomen was,
trad de profeet Elia naar voren en zei :
“Heer, God van Abraham, Isaäk en Israël,
toon heden dat Gij God zijt in Israël,
en dat ik, uw dienaar, dit alles op uw bevel heb gedaan.
“Geef antwoord, Heer, geef antwoord,
opdat dit volk erkent dat Gij, Heer, de ware God zijt,
en keer zo hun hart weer tot U.”
Toen sloeg het vuur van de Heer neer,
verteerde het brandoffer, het hout, de stenen en het stof ;
het likte zelfs het water in de geul op.
Toen de mensen dit zagen,
wierpen ze zich voorover op de grond en riepen :
“De Heer is de ware god ! De Heer is de ware god !”

TUSSENZANG         Ps. 16(15), 1-2a, 4, 5, 8, 11

Behoed mij, God, tot U neem ik mijn toevlucht.

Uit het heilig evangelie van onze Heer Jezus Christus volgens Matteüs

In die tijd zei Jezus tot zijn leerlingen :
“Denkt niet dat Ik gekomen ben
om Wet en Profeten op te heffen
maar om de vervulling te brengen.
“Want voorwaar, Ik zeg u :
Eerder nog zullen hemel en aarde vergaan,
dan dat één jota of haaltje vergaat uit de Wet,
voordat alles geschied is.
“Wie dus een van die voorschriften,
zelfs het geringste,
opheft en zo de mensen leert,
