Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?
Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Openingswoord
Doorheen het paars van de boete
breekt vandaag een beetje licht.
We mogen ons reeds verheugen
om het licht dat in de wereld komt.
Laten we ons hart openen
en de duisternis niet langer beminnen.
Laten we uitzien naar het licht dat God ons brengt
en ons helemaal laten doordringen
van zijn reddende nabijheid
in Jezus, zijn eniggeboren Zoon.
EERSTE LEZING 2 Kron. 36, 14-16.19-23
De toorn en het medelijden van de Heer worden duidelijk
door de ballingschap en de bevrijding van het volk.
Uit het tweede Boek Kronieken
In die dagen maakten al de voornaamsten en het volk
zich herhaaldelijk schuldig aan de gruweldaden van de heidenen
en ontheiligden de tempel van Jeruzalem
die aan de Heer gewijd was.
En de Heer, de God van hun voorvaderen,
stuurde almaar gezanten naar hun toe,
want Hij had medelijden met zijn volk en met zijn woning.
Maar zij verachtten Gods gezanten,
spotten met hun boodschap
en maakten zich vrolijk over de profeten
zodat tenslotte de toorn van de Heer
wel genadeloos moest losbarsten over het volk.
De koning van de Chaldeeën liet de tempel in brand steken
en de muur van Jeruzalem afbreken
en alle paleizen liet hij platbranden
zodat alle kostbaarheden verloren gingen.
Allen die aan het zwaard ontkomen waren,
liet hij in ballingschap wegvoeren naar Babel
waar zij hem en zijn zonen als slaven moesten dienen
tot het Perzische rijk aan de macht kwam.
Zo ging de voorspelling in vervulling
die de Heer bij monde van Jeremia gedaan had:
“Zolang het land zijn sabbatjaren niet vergoed gekregen heeft,
zal het braak blijven liggen: zeventig jaar lang.”
In het eerste regeringsjaar van Cyrus, de koning van Perzië,
ging de voorspelling in vervulling
die de Heer bij monde van Jeremia gedaan had:
de Heer wekte de geest op van Cyrus, de koning van Perzië.
Deze liet in heel zijn koninkrijk
de volgende boodschap afkondigen
en ook schriftelijk verspreiden:
“Zo spreekt Cyrus, de koning van Perzië:
De Heer, de God van de hemel,
heeft mij alle koninkrijken van de aarde geschonken.
Hij heeft mij opgedragen
voor Hem te Jeruzalem in Juda een tempel te bouwen:
laten allen onder u die tot het volk van de Heer behoren,
onder de hoede van de Heer, hun God,
terugkeren naar Jeruzalem.”

Moge mijn tong in mijn mond blijven kleven
als ik aan u niet meer denk.
Wij zaten aan Babylons stromen en weenden,
dachten aan Sion terug;

onze gezangen te horen.

“Zingt ons van Sion een lied!”

TWEEDE LEZING Ef. 2, 4-10
Hoewel wij dood waren door onze zonden,
danken wij aan zijn genade onze redding.
Uit de brief van de heilige apostel Paulus aan de christenen van Efeze
Broeders en zusters,
God die rijk is aan erbarming,
heeft wegens de grote liefde waarmee Hij ons heeft liefgehad,
ons met Christus ten leven gewekt,
hoewel wij dood waren door onze zonden;
aan zijn genade dankt gij uw redding.
En Hij heeft ons samen met Hem doen opstaan
en zetelen in de hemelen, in Christus Jezus,
om de naderbij komende eeuwen
de overgrote rijkdom van zijn genade te tonen
door zijn goedheid jegens ons in Christus Jezus.
Ja, aan die genade dankt gij uw heil, door het geloof;
niet aan uzelf: Gods gave is het;
niet aan uw prestaties, niemand mag zich verhovaardigen.
Gods werk zijn wij,
geschapen in Christus Jezus
om in ons leven de goede daden te realiseren
die God voor ons al bereid heeft.

“Zozeer immers heeft God de wereld liefgehad
dat Hij zijn eniggeboren Zoon heeft gegeven,
opdat al wie in Hem gelooft, niet verloren zal gaan
maar eeuwig leven zal hebben.
“God heeft zijn Zoon
niet naar de wereld gezonden om de wereld te oordelen,
maar omdat de wereld door Hem zou worden gered.
“Wie in Hem gelooft, wordt niet geoordeeld,
maar wie niet gelooft, is al veroordeeld,
omdat hij niet heeft geloofd in de Naam
van de eniggeboren Zoon Gods.
“Hierin bestaat het oordeel:
het licht is in de wereld gekomen,
maar de mensen beminden de duisternis meer dan het licht,
omdat hun daden slecht waren.
“Ieder die slecht handelt, heeft afschuw van het licht
en gaat niet naar het licht toe
uit vrees dat zijn werken openbaar gemaakt zullen worden.
“Maar wie de waarheid doet, gaat naar het licht,

Invitation
May I hereby call your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with you the joy of the Gospel.
Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening his heart
to the healing effect of God’s word.
Available every morning from 7 a.m.
Opening words
In “Christ Jesus” God has given man a future forever,
confesses the apostle Paul today.
In Christ Jesus’ he lets us share in his infinite goodness
and raises us to life, despite the deepest darkness.
‘In Christ Jesus’ a way to happiness is laid out,
that lies open for each one of us.
At the beginning of this celebration, let us
open our hearts to entrust ourselves to this mystery.
FIRST READING 2 Chron. 36, 14-16.19-23
The Lord’s wrath and compassion are evident through the exile and deliverance of the people.
From the second Book of Chronicles
In those days, all the principalities and the people
were repeatedly guilty of the abominations of the heathen
and profaned the temple of Jerusalem
which was dedicated to the Lord.
And the Lord, the God of their forefathers,
sent ambassadors to them over and over again,
for He had compassion on His people and on His house.
But they despised God’s envoys,
mocked their message
and made merry with the prophets
so that finally the wrath of the Lord
did have to mercilessly burst upon the people.
The king of the Chaldeans set fire to the temple
and tear down the wall of Jerusalem
and all the palaces burned down
so that all the valuables were lost.
All those who had escaped the sword
he led away into exile to Babylon.
where they had to serve him and his sons as slaves
until the Persian Empire came to power.
Thus was fulfilled the prophecy
that the Lord had made through Jeremiah:
“As long as the land has not been repaid its sabbatical years ,
it shall remain fallow: for seventy years.”
In the first year of reign of Cyrus, king of Persia,
the prophecy was fulfilled that the Lord
had made through Jeremiah:
the Lord raised up the spirit of Cyrus, king of Persia.
He had the following message proclaimed throughout his kingdom
and also spread in writing:
“Thus speaks Cyrus, the king of Persia:
The Lord, the God of heaven ,
has given me all the kingdoms of the earth.
He has commissioned me
to build for Him a temple in Jerusalem in Judah:
Let all of you who are of the Lord’s people,
under the care of the Lord their God,
return to Jerusalem.”

May my tongue remain stuck in my mouth

Though we were dead in our sins, to his grace we owe our salvation.

Brothers and sisters,
God, who is rich in mercy,
because of the great love with which He has loved us,
raised us to life with Christ,
though we were dead in our sins;
to His grace you owe your salvation.
And he hath raised us up together with him

that for the ages to come
the exceeding riches of his grace
through His goodness towards us in Christ Jesus.

“God did not
not sent into the world to judge the world ,
but because the world would be saved through Him.

113. Moreover, in the meantime, people no longer seem to believe in a happy future, they no longer blindly trust in a better future, starting from the current state of the world and technical skills. They are becoming aware that the progress of science and technology is not equal to the progress of humanity and history and suspect that there are other paths to a happy future. Nevertheless, neither can they imagine abandoning the possibilities that technology offers. Humanity has changed profoundly and the accumulation of constant innovations leads to a fleeting superficiality. It is difficult for us to regain the depth of life. If architecture reflects a zeitgeist, then the megastructures and the houses built in series express the spirit of globalized technology in which the constant newness of the products combines with an oppressive boredom. Let us not resign ourselves to this and let us not refrain from questioning the purposes and meaning of everything. Otherwise we will only legitimize the state of affairs and need more surrogates to keep the emptiness out.
