Uitnodiging
Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?
Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Overweging
Eertijds waren we van God vervreemd, maar nu we met Hem in Christus verzoend werden, moeten we anders gaan leven. We zouden kunnen veronderstellen dat het aan ons is om tot God te naderen, dat Hij van ons een offer verwacht opdat goedgemaakt wordt wat eertijds fout liep tussen Hem en ons. Het Nieuwe Testament echter toont hoe anders onze God is. Het is Hij die tot ons komt, en het is Hij die ons zijn Zoon op het kruis schenkt, het offer dat ons aangeboden wordt. Het is de rode draad doorheen de evangelies: God is de totaal Andere. Hij zoekt de mens. Laten wij ons vinden ?
EERSTE LEZING Kol. 1, 21-23
Thans heeft God u met zich verzoend ;
Hij wil dat gij als heilige mensen,
zonder smet of blaam voor hem zult verschijnen.
Uit de brief van de heilige apostel Paulus aan de christenen van
Kolosse
Broeders en zusters,
Ook gij waart eertijds van God vervreemd
en Hem vijandig gezind
en uw daden waren slecht.
Maar thans heeft God u met zich verzoend
in Christus’ sterfelijk lichaam,
door zijn dood,
want Hij wil dat gij als heilige mensen,
zonder smet of blaam
voor Hem zult verschijnen.
Maar dan moet gij ook vast en onwrikbaar blijven in het geloof
en u niet laten afbrengen van de hoop
die u in het evangelie is aangezegd.
Dit is de boodschap
die aan alle schepselen onder de hemel verkondigd is
en waarvan ik, Paulus, de dienaar ben geworden.

God is het, die mij helpt.
God, sta mij bij met uw Naam,
kom voor mij op met uw macht.
Luister, o God, naar mijn bede,
hoor wat mijn mond U zegt.
God is het, die mij helpt,
de Heer die mijn leven bewaart.
Offeren zal ik U van harte,
prijzen, o Heer, uw weldadige Naam.

EVANGELIE Lc. 6, 1-5
Waarom doet ge iets dat op sabbat niet mag ?
Uit het heilig evangelie van onze Heer Jezus Christus volgens
Lucas
Eens ging Jezus op een sabbat door de korenvelden
en om te eten plukten zijn leerlingen aren
die ze met hun handen uitwreven.
Sommige Farizeeën vroegen :
“Waarom doet ge iets dat op sabbat niet mag ?”
Jezus gaf hun ten antwoord :
“Hebt ge dan niet gelezen wat David deed
toen hij en zijn metgezellen honger kregen ?
“Hoe hij het huis van God binnenging,
de toonbroden nam en opat
en er ook van gaf aan zijn metgezellen,
terwijl toch alleen de priesters daarvan mogen eten ?”
En Hij voegde er aan toe :
“De Mensenzoon is Heer van de sabbat.”

May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with you the joy of the Gospel.
Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience this joy by opening his heart
to the healing effect of God’s word.

Consideration
Once we were estranged from God, but now that we have been reconciled to Him in Christ, we must live differently. We might assume that it is up to us to approach God, that He expects us to make a sacrifice in order to make up for what once went wrong between Him and us. The New Testament, however, shows how different our God is. It is He who comes to us, and it is He who gives us His Son on the cross, the sacrifice that is offered to us. It is the thread that runs through the gospels: God is the total Other. He seeks mankind. Do we let ourselves be found?
FIRST READING Col 1:21-23
Now God has reconciled you to himself;
He wants you to be like holy men,
He wants you to appear before him as holy men, without blemish or blame.
From the letter of the holy apostle Paul to the Christians of
Colossians
Brothers and sisters,
Ye also were formerly alienated from God
and were hostile to Him
and your deeds were evil.
But now God has reconciled you to himself
in Christ’s mortal body
through His death,
for He wants you to be like holy men,
appear before Him as holy men, without blemish or blame.
But then you must also remain firm and immovable in the faith
and let not yourselves be distracted from the hope
which is promised you in the Gospel.
This is the message
which has been preached to all creatures under heaven
and of which I, Paul, have become the minister.

Why do you do what you are not allowed to do on the Sabbath?
From the Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Luke
One day, Jesus was walking through the cornfields on the Sabbath,
and to eat, his disciples picked ears of corn
which they rubbed out with their hands.
Some of the Pharisees asked :
“Why are you doing something that is not allowed on the Sabbath?”
Jesus answered them:
“Have you not read what David did
when he and his companions were hungry?
“How he entered the house of God,
took the showbread and ate it
and gave some of it to his companions,
when only the priests may eat thereof?”
And He added :
“The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
