Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?
Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Overweging
In de lezing van vandaag omschrijft Paulus Gods geheim, dat de mens in staat stelt een onverwoestbare vreugde te putten uit het lijden en de dood van Jezus Christus. Het geheim is dat van het kruis dat redding en verzoening bracht: een opdracht die wij verder mogen zetten. Zo zal de lijdensweg die Paulus op zijn beurt aflegt hem niet afschrikken, maar hem leiden naar de ontmoeting met de Christus en de deelname aan zijn lijden. Hoe zou ook ons lijden, onze kruisweg, de lasten en de pijn die wij meedragen niet veranderen, wanneer we ze zouden ervaren als een deelname in de passie van Jezus Christus ? Wanneer we beseffen dat we niet alleen zijn om ons kruis te dragen, maar dat Jezus mee-lijdt met ons ?
EERSTE LEZING Kol. 1, 24-2,3
Ik ben dienaar van de kerk geworden
om het geheim te verkondigen
dat verborgen was voor alle eeuwen.
Uit de brief van de heilige apostel Paulus aan de christenen van
Kolosse
Broeders en zusters,
Op het ogenblik verheug ik mij
dat ik voor u mag lijden, en in mijn lijdend lichaam aanvullen
wat nog ontbreekt aan de beproevingen van de Christus,
ten bate van zijn lichaam dat de kerk is.
Ik ben haar dienaar geworden
krachtens de opdracht die God mij gegeven heeft
om u het woord Gods te brengen in heel zijn volheid :
om het geheim te verkondigen
dat verborgen was voor alle eeuwen en alle generaties
maar dat nu is geopenbaard aan zijn heiligen.
Hun heeft God bekend willen maken
hoe machtig en hoe wonderbaar
dit geheim is onder de heidenvolken.
En zo luidt het :
‘Christus is in u’,
en ook :
‘de hoop op een eeuwige heerlijkheid’.
Hem verkondigen wij dus
wanneer wij allen, zonder onderscheid
vermanen en onderrichten met alle wijsheid die ons gegeven is
om ook allen, zonder onderscheid,
in Christus tot volmaaktheid te brengen.
Daarvoor span ik mij in,
strijdend met zijn kracht die machtig in mij werkt.
Want gij moet weten
welk een zware strijd ik te voeren heb
voor u en voor de gelovigen in Laodicéa
en voor zovelen die mij nooit hebben gezien.
Al mijn zwoegen is erop gericht
dat zij goede moed houden
en innig in liefde verbonden blijven,
en zo komen
tot de volle rijkdom van het inzicht in Gods geheim
waarin alle schatten van wijsheid en kennis verborgen liggen.
TUSSENZANG Ps. 62(61), 6-7, 9
Bij God ligt mijn heil en mijn eer.
Bij God alleen moet ik rusten,
van Hem komt al wat ik hoop.
Slechts Hij is mijn rots en mijn redding,
mijn burcht, Hij laat mij niet los.
Blijf altijd op Hem vertrouwen,
mijn volk, stort uw hart bij Hem uit ;
Hij is onze enige toevlucht.

Men hield Jezus in het oog
of Hij op sabbat een genezing zou verrichten.
Uit het heilig evangelie van onze Heer Jezus Christus volgens
Lucas
Het gebeurde op een sabbat,
toen Jezus de synagoge binnenging om daar te onderrichten,
dat er een man aanwezig was
met een verschrompelde rechterhand.
De schriftgeleerden en Farizeeën hielden Jezus in het oog
of Hij op sabbat een genezing zou verrichten,
om iets te vinden waarvan zij Hem zouden kunnen beschuldigen.
Maar Hij wist wat ze dachten
en zei tot de man met de verschrompelde hand :
“Sta op en kom in het midden.”
De man stond op en trad naderbij.
Daarop sprak Jezus tot de Farizeeën :
“Ik vraag u :
is het niet eerder geoorloofd op sabbat goed te doen dan kwaad,
iemand te redden dan te laten omkomen ?”
Toen liet Hij zijn blik rondgaan over hen allen en zei tot de man :
“Steek uw hand uit.”
Hij deed het, en zijn hand was weer gezond.
Toen waren ze buiten zichzelf van woede
en ze bespraken met elkaar wat ze tegen Jezus konden doen.

May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with you the joy of the Gospel.
Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience this joy by opening his heart
to the healing effect of God’s word.

CONSIDERATION
In today’s reading, Paul describes God’s secret, which enables man to draw an indestructible joy from the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. The secret is that of the cross that brought salvation and reconciliation: a task we may continue. Thus, Paul’s suffering in turn will not frighten him, but will lead him to the encounter with the Christ and the participation in his suffering. How would our suffering, our way of the cross, the burdens and the pain we carry, not change if we experienced them as a participation in the passion of Jesus Christ? When we realise that we are not alone to carry our cross, but that Jesus suffers with us?

I have become a servant of the Church
To proclaim the secret
that was hidden from all ages.
From the letter of the holy apostle Paul to the Christians of
Colossians
Brothers and sisters,
At this time I rejoice
that I may suffer for you, and make up in my suffering body
what is still lacking in the trials of the Christ,
for the sake of his body, which is the Church.
I have become her servant
by virtue of the commission which God has given me
to bring you the word of God in all its fullness:
To proclaim the secret
that was hidden from all ages and from all generations
but has now been revealed to His saints.
God wanted to make known to them
how powerful and how wonderful
this secret is among the heathen nations.
And so it reads :
Christ is in you’,
and also :
The hope of eternal glory’.
Thus we proclaim him
when we admonish and teach all, without distinction,
with all the wisdom that we have been given
in order to bring all, without distinction,
to perfection in Christ.
For this I exert myself,
struggling with His power working mightily in me.
For you must know
what an arduous battle I have to fight
for you and for the believers in Laodicea
and for so many who have never seen me.
All my toil is aimed at
that they may have courage
and remain firmly united in love,
and so come
to the full wealth of the understanding of God’s secret
wherein lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

One kept an eye on Jesus
whether He would perform a healing on the Sabbath.
From the Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Luke
It happened on a Sabbath,
when Jesus went into the synagogue to teach there,
there was a man present
with a shriveled right hand.
The scribes and Pharisees were watching Jesus
whether He would perform a healing on the Sabbath,
to find something they could accuse Him of.
But He knew what they were thinking
and said to the man with the shriveled hand :
“Arise and come into the midst.”
The man stood up and approached.
Then Jesus spoke to the Pharisees:
“I ask you :
Is it not lawful on the Sabbath to do good rather than evil,
to save someone rather than let them perish?
Then He let His gaze wander over them all and said to the man :
“Hold out your hand.”
He did so, and his hand was restored to health.
Then they were beside themselves with rage
and they discussed with each other what they could do against Jesus.
