Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?
Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Overweging
Paulus schenkt aan de christenen van Kolosse een pareltje van een brief met deze eerste lezing. Thema’s als vergeving onder elkaar, liefde als volmaaktheid, dankbaarheid, kortom hier staat te veel om op te noemen. Het is een stukje voor een spirituele bloemlezing uit het Nieuwe Testament. Tegelijk is de lezing een pleidooi voor de zachte waarden die in staat zijn de wereld te veranderen.
EERSTE LEZING Kol. 3, 12-17
De liefde is de band der volmaaktheid.
Uit de brief van de heilige apostel Paulus aan de christenen van
Kolosse
Broeders en zusters,
Praktiseer als Gods heilige en geliefde uitverkorenen:
tedere ontferming, goedheid, deemoed,
zachtheid en geduld.
Verdraagt elkander
en vergeeft elkander als de een tegen de ander een grief heeft.
Zoals de Heer u vergeven heeft
zo moet ook gij vergeven.
Voegt bij dit alles de liefde als de band der volmaaktheid.
En laat de vrede van Christus heersen in uw hart ;
daartoe zijt gij immers geroepen, als leden van één lichaam.
En weest dankbaar.
Het woord van Christus moge in volle rijkdom onder u wonen.
Leert en vermaant elkander met alle wijsheid.
Zingt voor God met een dankbaar hart psalmen,
hymnen en liederen,
ingegeven door de Geest.
En al wat gij doet in woord of werk
doet alles in de naam van Jezus de Heer,
God de Vader dankend door Hem.

keer hem ook de andere toe;

Over de zorg voor het gemeenschappelijk huis
52. De buitenlandse schuld van de arme landen is veranderd in een controle-instrument, maar hetzelfde gebeurt niet met de ecologische schuld. Op verschillende manieren blijven de ontwikkelingslanden, waar zich de belangrijkste reserves van de biosfeer bevinden, de ontwikkeling van de rijkste voeden ten koste van hun heden en hun toekomst. De aarde van de armen van het Zuiden is rijk en weinig vervuild, maar de toegang tot het eigendom van de goederen en de hulpbronnen om te voldoen aan de eigen levensbehoeften wordt hun verboden door een structureel pervers systeem op het gebied van handel en eigendom. Het is noodzakelijk dat de ontwikkelde landen eraan bijdragen deze schuld op te lossen door op een belangrijke wijze het gebruik van niet hernieuwbare energie te beperken en de meest behoeftige landen hulpbronnen te leveren om een politiek en programma’s voor een beheersbare ontwikkeling te bevorderen. De armste streken en landen hebben minder mogelijkheden nieuwe modellen om het effect op het milieu terug te dringen, omdat zij niet de voorbereiding hebben om de nodige processen op gang te brengen en de kosten ervan niet kunnen dekken. Daarom moet men zich helder er bewust van blijven dat er bij de klimaatverandering gedifferentieerde verantwoordelijkheden zijn en, zoals de bisschoppen van Verenigde Staten hebben gezegd, het gepast is zich “vooral” te richten “op de noden van de armen, de zwakken en kwetsbaren, in debat dat vaak wordt beheerst door de machtigste belangen”. 6 Men moet het bewustzijn versterken dat wij één menselijke familie zijn. Er zijn geen politieke en maatschappelijke grenzen en barrières die het ons veroorloven ons te isoleren en juist daarom is er evenmin ruimte voor de globalisering van de onverschilligheid.

Consideration
Paul gives the Christians of Colosse a pearl of a letter with this first reading. Themes such as forgiveness among yourselves, love as perfection, gratitude, in short, there is too much here to mention. It is a piece for a spiritual anthology from the New Testament. At the same time, the reading is a plea for the soft values that are capable of changing the world.
FIRST READING Col 3:12-17
Love is the bond of perfection.

Colossians
Brothers and sisters,
Practice as God’s holy and beloved chosen ones:
tender mercies, goodness, humility,
gentleness and patience.
Bear with one another
and forgive one another if any one has a grievance against another.
As the Lord has forgiven you
so must you also forgive.
Add to all this love as the bond of perfection.
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts;
For unto this end ye are called as members of one body.

52. The external debt of poor countries has turned into a control instrument, but the same does not happen with the ecological debt. In various ways, the developing countries, where the main reserves of the biosphere are located, continue to feed the development of the richest at the expense of their present and future. The earth of the poor of the South is rich and little polluted, but access to ownership of the goods and resources to meet their own needs is denied them by a structurally perverse system of trade and ownership. It is necessary for developed countries to contribute to solving this debt by significantly reducing the use of non-renewable energy and providing resources to the countries most in need in order to promote policies and programmes for manageable development. The poorest regions and countries have fewer opportunities to adopt new models for reducing the impact on the environment because they do not have the preparation to initiate the necessary processes and cannot cover the costs involved. It is therefore necessary to maintain a clear awareness that climate change involves differentiated responsibilities and, as the bishops of the United States have said, it is appropriate to focus “above all” on the needs of the poor, the weak and the vulnerable, in a debate often dominated by the most powerful interests. 6 It is necessary to strengthen the awareness that we are one human family. There are no political or social borders or barriers that allow us to isolate ourselves, and for this very reason there is no room for the globalisation of indifference.
