Uitnodiging
Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?
Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Overweging
De lezingen zijn wat misleidend: ze geven de indruk een doorlopende tekst te zijn, terwijl we in feite vaak te maken hebben met een spreuk die slechts twee verzen beslaat – bij uitstek de semitische stijl. Verder houdt een dergelijke spreuk ook geen verband met wat volgt. We lezen dus spreuk per spreuk. Het meermaals voorkomen van dezelfde spreuken in het boek bewijst de aangroei van collecties tot een geheel.
EERSTE LEZING Spr. 21, 1-6. 10-13
Verschillende raadgevingen
Uit het Boek der Spreuken
Als een waterloop, zo is het hart van de koning
in de hand van de Heer ;
Hij leidt het waarheen Hij maar wil.
Een mens mag menen dat al zijn gangen recht zijn,
de Heer weegt toch de harten.
Door naar recht en billijkheid te handelen
is men de Heer aangenamer dan door offers.
Verwaande ogen en een trots hart :
De glans van de boosdoeners is de zonde.
Het overleg van een ijverig man brengt enkel winst,
maar de onbedachtzame vindt niets dan armoe.
Schatten, met een leugentong verworven,
zijn verwaaiende dampen, valstrikken van de dood.
Het hart van de boosdoener haakt naar het kwade
en hij kent geen deernis met zijn naaste.
Straft men een spotter, dan wordt de onverstandige wijzer ;
onderricht men een wijze, dan wint hij aan weten.
De Rechtvaardige let op het huis van de boosdoener
en Hij stort de boosdoener in het verderf.
Wie zijn oren sluit voor het hulpgeroep van de arme,
zal zelf ook nog eens aan dovemans oren roepen.
TUSSENZANG Ps. 119(118), I, 27, 30, 34, 35, 44
Leid mij, Heer, langs de paden van uw geboden.
Gelukkig degenen wier levensweg rein is,
die voortgaan volgens de wet van de Heer.
Leid mij op de weg van uw bevelen,
dan zal ik uw daden indachtig zijn.
Ik heb de weg van de trouw gekozen,
ik houd mij aan wat Gij bepaalt.
Geef mij begrip om uw wet na te leven,
om hem te volgen met heel mijn hart.
Leid mij langs de paden van uw geboden,
daar vind ik mijn vreugde in.
Uw wet zal ik altijd trouw onderhouden,

maar vanwege de menigte konden zij Hem niet bereiken.

Maar Hij gaf hun ten antwoord :
“Mijn moeder en mijn broeders zijn zij
die het woord van God horen en ernaar handelen.”

Over de zorg voor het gemeenschappelijk huis
180. Men kan niet denken aan uniforme recepten, omdat er specifieke problemen en beperkingen van ieder land en iedere streek zijn. Weliswaar kan ook politiek realisme vragen om overgangsmaatregelen en overgangstechnologieën, mits ze maar gepaard gaan met planning en een accepteren van geleidelijke bindende verplichtingen, maar tegelijkertijd is er altijd op nationaal en lokaal niveau veel te doen, bijvoorbeeld het bevorderen van vormen van energiebesparing. Dat houdt in manieren van industriële productie begunstigen met de grootste energetische doelmatigheid en een geringer verbruik van grondstoffen, waarbij producten die vanuit energetisch standpunt bezien weinig doelmatig of meer vervuilend zijn, uit de markt worden gehaald. Wij kunnen hier ook een goed beheer van het vervoer of bouw- en verbouwingstechnieken bij gebouwen vermelden, die het energieverbruik en het niveau van vervuiling terugdringen. Anderzijds kan de lokale politiek zich richten op een verandering in de consumptie, de ontwikkeling van een afval- en recyclingeconomie, op de bescherming van bepaalde soorten en de programmering van een gediversifieerde landbouw met een wisselbouw van culturen. Het is mogelijk een verbetering op landbouwgebied van de arme streken te begunstigen door middel van investeringen in de rurale infrastructuren, in de organisatie van de lokale of nationale markt, in irrigatiesystemen, in de ontwikkeling van duurzame landbouwtechnieken. Men kan vormen van samenwerking en gemeenschappelijke organisatie faciliteren die de belangen van de kleine producenten beschermen en lokale ecosystemen behoeden voor plundering. Er is veel wat men kan doen!

Consideration
The readings are somewhat misleading: they give the impression of being a continuous text, whereas in fact we are often dealing with a proverb which occupies only two verses – the Semitic style par excellence. Furthermore, such a saying has no connection with what follows. So we read spell by spell. The repeated occurrence of the same proverbs in the book proves the growth of collections into a whole.

From the Book of Proverbs
As a watercourse, so is the heart of the king
in the hand of the Lord ;
He leadeth it whithersoever He will.
A man may think that all his steps are straight,
yet the Lord weighs the hearts.
By acting according to right and fairness
one is more pleasing to the Lord than sacrifice.
Conceited eyes and a proud heart :
The brilliance of the wicked is sin.
The deliberation of a diligent man brings only profit,
but the thoughtless find nothing but poverty.
Treasures, acquired with a lying tongue,
are vapours to be blown away, traps of death.

180. One cannot think of uniform recipes, because there are specific problems and limitations of each country and region. It is true that political realism may also call for transitional measures and transitional technologies, provided that they are accompanied by planning and an acceptance of progressively binding obligations, but at the same time there is always much to do at national and local levels, for example to promote forms of energy saving. This means favouring ways of industrial production with the greatest energy efficiency and less consumption of raw materials, removing from the market products that are less efficient or more polluting from an energy point of view. We can also mention here good transport management or construction and renovation techniques for buildings, which reduce energy consumption and the level of pollution. On the other hand, local politics can focus on a change in consumption, the development of a waste and recycling economy, the protection of certain species and the programming of a diversified agriculture with a change of cultures. It is possible to promote agricultural improvement in poor areas through investment in rural infrastructure, in the organisation of the local or national market, in irrigation systems, in the development of sustainable agricultural techniques. One can facilitate forms of cooperation and joint organisation that protect the interests of small producers and protect local ecosystems from plundering. There is much that one can do!
