het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Overweging
Bijna elke maand vieren wij in de Kerk een feest van de apostelen. Dit liturgisch gedenken en vieren is belangrijk voor ons besef dat wij een apostolische kerkgemeenschap zijn, een gemeenschap die de Heer heeft gebouwd op de twaalf apostelen. Vandaag vieren we Simon, uit Kana, bijgenaamd de ijveraar. Judas, ook Taddeus genoemd, was de broer van Jakobus. Beide apostelen werden omwille van hun geloof gedood rond het jaar 70.

 

EERSTE LEZING                Ef. 2, 19-22

Gij zijt gebouwd op het fundament
van de apostelen en profeten.

Uit de brief van de heilige apostel Paulus aan de christenen van Efeze

Broeders en zusters,

Gij zijt geen vreemdelingen en ontheemden meer
maar medeburgers van de heiligen en huisgenoten van God,
gebouwd op het fundament van de apostelen en profeten,
terwijl de sluitsteen Christus Jezus zelf is,
die het hele bouwwerk in zijn voegen houdt.
In Hem groeit het uit tot een heilige tempel in de Heer.
In Hem wordt ook gij mee opgebouwd
tot een woonstede van God,
in de Geest.

TUSSENZANG             Ps. 19(18), 2-3, 4-5

Over heel de aarde klinkt hun roep.

De hemel verkondigt Gods heerlijkheid,
het uitspansel toont ons het werk van zijn handen.
De dag roept het toe aan de volgende dag,
de nacht geeft het door aan de nacht.

Geen woord wordt gesproken, geen stem weerklinkt,
geen enkel geluid is te horen ;

en bracht daar de nacht door in gebed tot God.
Bij het aanbreken van de dag riep Hij zijn leerlingen bij zich
en koos er twaalf uit, aan wie Hij tevens de naam van apostel gaf :
Simon, aan wie Hij de naam Petrus gaf,
diens broer Andreas,
Jakobus en Johannes,
Filippus en Bartolomeüs,
Matteüs en Thomas,

89. De schepselen van deze wereld mogen niet worden beschouwd als een goed zonder eigenaar: “Gij spaart echter alles, omdat het van U is, Gij Heer, die al wat leeft bemint” (Wijsh. 11, 26) . Dit leidt tot de overtuiging dat wij allen, als wezens van het heelal en geschapen door dezelfde Vader, met elkaar verbonden zijn door onzichtbare banden en een soort universele familie vormen, een verheven gemeenschap die ons aanzet tot een heilig, liefdevol en nederig respect. Ik wil eraan herinneren dat “God ons zo nauw met de wereld die ons omgeeft, heeft verbonden dat de woestijnvorming van de bodem als het ware een ziekte is voor ieder en wij mogen klagen over het uitsterven van een soort, als was het een verminking”.

Consideration
Almost every month in the Church, we celebrate a feast of the apostles. This liturgical remembrance and celebration is important for our awareness that we are an apostolic Church community, a community that the Lord built on the 12 apostles. Today we celebrate Simon, from Cana, nicknamed the zealot. Judas, also called Taddeus, was the brother of James. Both apostles were killed for their faith around the year 70.

 

FIRST READING         Eph. 2:19-22

Thou art built on the foundation
of the apostles and prophets.

From the letter of the holy apostle Paul to the Christians of Ephesus

Brothers and sisters,

Ye are no longer strangers and displaced persons
but fellow citizens of the saints and household members of God,
built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
while the keystone is Christ Jesus Himself,
who holds the whole edifice in place.
In Him it grows into a holy temple in the Lord.
In Him you too are built up
into a dwelling place of God,
in the Spirit.

89. The created things of this world are not free of ownership: “For they are yours, O Lord, who love the living” (Wis 11:26). This is the basis of our conviction that, as part of the universe, called into being by one Father, all of us are linked by unseen bonds and together form a kind of universal family, a sublime communion which fills us with a sacred, affectionate and humble respect. Here I would reiterate that “God has joined us so closely to the world around us that we can feel the desertification of the soil almost as a physical ailment, and the extinction of a species as a painful disfigurement”.[67]
