Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?
Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Overweging
Jezus is zich zeer goed bewust van zijn identiteit en van de taak die op zijn schouders rust. Geen enkele profeet, geen enkele heilige is vergelijkbaar met Hem, de Mensenzoon. Hij durft het aan om te zeggen dat niet Hij iemand nodig heeft, maar dat iedereen Hem nodig heeft. Durven wij het aan om Hem op zijn woord te geloven? Want als dat woord werkelijkheid wordt, hebben wij voortaan een waarachtige, betrouwbare en sterke rots waartegen we mogen leunen, waarop we ons leven mogen bouwen.
EERSTE LEZING Jes. 56, 1-3a. 6-8
Mijn huis is een huis van gebed voor alle volken.
Uit de Profeet Jesaja
Zo spreekt God de Heer :
“Onderhoud het recht en doe wat rechtvaardig is,
want mijn heil is in aantocht,
mijn rechtvaardigheid dient zich aan.
“Gelukkig de man die zó handelt,
de mens die er zich aan houdt,
die de sabbat heiligt en hem niet schendt,
die zijn hand weerhoudt van het stichten van kwaad.
“Laat de vreemdeling, die zich aansluit bij de Heer, niet menen :
De Heer maakt mij los van mijn volk.
“De vreemdelingen die zich bij de Heer aansluiten
om hem te dienen,
die zijn Naam met liefde vereren en zijn dienaren willen zijn,
allen die de sabbat onderhouden en hem niet onteren,
allen die zich houden aan mijn verbond,
hen breng Ik naar mijn heilige berg,
en Ik geef hen vreugde in mijn huis van gebed.
“Hun brand- en slachtoffers zullen mij aangenaam zijn
op mijn altaar.
“Want mijn huis is een huis van gebed voor alle volken.”
En verder spreekt de Heer onze God,
die de ballingen van Israël weer bijeenbrengt :
“Bij hen die reeds bijeengebracht zijn voeg Ik nog andere !”
TUSSENZANG Ps. 67(66), 2-3, 5, 7-8
Geef dat de volken U eren, o God,
dat alle volken U eren !
God, wees ons barmhartig en zegen ons,
toon ons het licht van uw aanschijn ;
opdat men op aarde uw wegen mag kennen,
in alle landen uw heil.
Laat alle naties van vreugde juichen
omdat Gij de volken rechtvaardig regeert
en alles op aarde bestuurt.
De aarde gaf ons haar vruchten,
de zegen van onze God.
God geve ons zo zijn zegen
dat heel de aarde Hem vreest.

Alleluia.
De Heer is onze rechter, wetgever en koning ;
Hij zal ons verlossen.

In die tijd zei Jezus tot de Joden :
“Gij hebt een gezantschap naar Johannes gestuurd
en deze heeft getuigd voor de waarheid.
“Weliswaar behoef Ik de getuigenis van een mens niet,
maar Ik zeg dit
opdat gij gered zult worden.
“Hij was de lamp, ontstoken om te verlichten,
en een korte tijd hebt gij u in zijn licht willen verheugen.
“De getuigenis echter die Ik bezit
is waardevoller dan die van Johannes :
Want het zijn juist de werken
die de Vader Mij gegeven heeft om te volbrengen
en die Ik ook volbreng,
die van Mij getuigen, dat Ik door de Vader gezonden ben.”

Over de zorg voor het gemeenschappelijke huis
21. Men dient ook te denken aan de vervuiling die wordt veroorzaakt door afval, inbegrepen het gevaarlijke afval dat aanwezig is in verschillende milieus. Er worden honderden miljoenen tonnen afval per jaar geproduceerd, waarvan vele niet afbreekbaar zijn: huisafval en commercieel afval, sloopafval, klinisch, elektronisch en industrieel afval, hoog giftig en radioactief afval. De aarde, ons huis, lijkt steeds meer te veranderen in een immense opslagplaats van vuilnis. Op veel plaatsen van de planeet herinneren de ouderen zich nostalgisch de landschappen uit andere tijden, die nu verschijnen als bedolven onder afval. De chemische producten die in de stad en op de velden worden gebruikt, kunnen evenzeer als het industriële afval een effect van bio-opeenhoping hebben in de organismen van de bewoners aan de randgebieden, en deze komt ook tot stand, wanneer het niveau van de aanwezigheid van een giftig element op een plaats laag is. Vaak neemt men alleen maatregelen, wanneer de veroorzaakte effecten onomkeerbaar zijn voor de gezondheid van de personen.

May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with You the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.

Consideration
Jesus is acutely aware of His identity and the task on His shoulders. No prophet, no saint is comparable to Him, the Son of Man. He dares to say that not He needs anyone, but everyone needs Him. Do we dare to take Him at His word? Because if that word becomes a reality, from now on we will have a true, reliable and strong rock against which to lean, on which to build our lives.
FIRST READING Isa 56:1-3a. 6-8
My house is a house of prayer for all peoples.
From the Prophet Isaiah
Thus God the Lord speaks :
“Maintain justice and do what is righteous ,
for my salvation is at hand,
my justice is at hand.
“Happy the man who does so,
the man who keeps it,
who sanctifies the Sabbath and does not violate it,
who keeps his hand from doing evil.
“Let not the stranger, who joins the Lord, think :
The Lord detaches me from my people.
“The strangers who join the Lord
to serve Him,
who revere his Name with love and want to be his servants,
all who keep the Sabbath and do not dishonour it,
all who keep my covenant,
them I bring to my holy mountain,
and I give them joy in my house of prayer.
“Their burnings and victims will be pleasing to Me
on my altar.
“For my house is a house of prayer for all peoples.”

On caring for the common home
21. One should also consider the pollution caused by waste, including the hazardous waste present in various environments. Hundreds of millions of tonnes of waste are produced every year, many of which are non-degradable: domestic and commercial waste, demolition waste, clinical, electronic and industrial waste, highly toxic and radioactive waste. The earth, our home, increasingly seems to be turning into an immense repository of rubbish. In many parts of the planet, the elderly nostalgically recall the landscapes of other times, which now appear as buried under rubbish. The chemicals used in the city and in the fields, as much as the industrial waste, can have an effect of bio-accumulation in the organisms of the inhabitants on the fringes, and this also occurs, when the level of presence of a toxic element in a place is low. Measures are often taken only when the effects caused are irreversible to the health of individuals.
