Consideration

From the dialogue between Adam and Eve on the one hand and God on the other, it is clear that God holds man accountable. But man cannot justify his own sin before God. He wants to exonerate himself and cite causes of various kinds, but this only makes him more confronted with his own smallness and lousiness. God continues to care for his people in spite of everything, no matter how badly they sin: ‘And God made clothes of skins for man, and he put them on’.

FIRST READING                    Gen. 3, 9-24
God the Lord expelled man from the garden of Eden;
he had to go and cultivate the ground from which he had been taken.

From the Book of Genesis

God the Lord called man and asked him :
‘Where art thou?’
He replied :
‘I heard thy thunder in the garden ,
and then I became afraid, because I am naked ;
therefore I hid myself.’
But God the Lord said :
‘Who told thee that thou art naked?
‘Hast thou sometimes eaten of the tree
which I have forbidden thee?’
Man replied :
‘The woman whom Thou hast given me as a companion ,
she gave me of that tree,
and then I ate.’
Thereupon God the Lord asked the woman :
‘How hast thou been able to do that?’
The woman said :
‘The serpent tempted me ,
and then I ate.’
God the Lord then said to the serpent :
‘Because thou hast done this ,
thou art cursed among all domestic animals
And among all wild beasts !
‘On thy belly shalt thou crawl and dust shalt thou eat ,
all the days of thy life !
‘Enmity I put between thee and woman,
between thy offspring and hers.
‘It shall threaten thy head
and thou its heel!’
And to the woman He said :
‘Very heavy will I make
the burdens of thy pregnancy :
With pain shalt thou bear children.
‘To thy husband shall thy desire go forth ,
though he rule over thee.’
And to the husband He said :
‘Because thou hast listened to thy wife
and have eaten of the tree
which I had forbidden you ,
the ground shall be cursed because of thee !
‘Toiling thou shalt eat of it all the days of thy life.
‘Thistles and thorns it shall bring forth,
with field crops thou must feed.
‘In sweat thou shalt work for thy bread,
till thou return to the ground
from which thou art taken :
Thou art dust ,
and to dust thou returnest.’
Man called his wife Eve,
for she became the mother of all the living.
And God the Lord made clothes of skins
For man and his wife
And He put them on.
And God the Lord said :
‘Now that man in the knowledge of good and evil
has become like one of Us, I want to prevent
that he pluck any more from the tree of life ;
by eating thereof, he would live forever !’
Therefore, God the Lord expelled him from the garden of Eden,
and he had to go and cultivate the ground
from which he had been taken.
He thus expelled man from the garden,
and on the east side of the garden of Eden
He placed the kerubs and the flame of the rolling sword,
to guard the way to the tree of life.

When in those days again many people were gathered together
and they did not have food to eat,
Jesus called his disciples to him and spoke to them :
‘I have compassion on these people ,
because they have been staying with Me for three days
so that they are now without food.
‘If I let them go home without food
they will succumb on the way ;
some of them have come from far away.’
His disciples answered Him :
’ Where can anyone here, in such a lonely place
get bread to satiate them?’
He asked them : ‘Then how many loaves do you have?’
‘Seven,’ they replied.
He ordered the people to sit down on the ground.
Then He took the seven loaves,
and after the thanksgiving prayer He broke them
and gave them to His disciples to put before the people ;
and they did so.
They also had some fish :
After saying the blessing over them, He said
that they should serve those too.
The people ate until they were satisfied
and to the remaining chunks they collected seven baskets.
There were about four thousand people.
Then He sent them home.
Immediately He set sail with His disciples
And came into the region of Dalmanúta.

A love that integrates and unites

190. Political love is also expressed in an openness to
all. Especially those with governmental responsibility are called to
renounce issues to make a meeting possible, and seeks
at least agreement on some themes. He knows how to listen to
the other’s point of view allowing all their space. With the
renouncing certain things and being patient, a director can contribute
to creating a nice polygon where everyone finds a place.
In this area, economic-type negotiations do not work.
It is more, it is a mutual exchange of gifts for the benefit
of the common good. It seems like a naïve utopia, but we must not abandon this
very noble goal not to give up.

Consideración

Los hermanos Cirilo y Metodio (siglo IX) están en la base de la fe de los pueblos eslavos.Se adelantaron a su tiempo por el método dinámico de su proclamación: tradujeron la Biblia y la liturgia al eslavo y partieron con ella de Constantinopla en misiones a Moravia. Su proclamación nos muestra cómo la Buena Nueva puede unir a las personas por encima de todas las fronteras y diferencias culturales. Hoy, tantos siglos después, la misión sigue siendo de actualidad. La Iglesia europea se enfrenta a una nueva evangelización. Dios quiere recurrir a nosotros ahora para recristianizar la sociedad desde sus propios cimientos, como hicieron los primeros cristianos y han seguido haciendo tantas generaciones. ¡Sin renunciar a nuestro lugar en la profesión y en la familia! ¡Cuánto bien podemos hacer! Para ello, debemos vivir una vida de fe viva, asegurándonos meticulosamente cada día de reservar un tiempo para la oración, interactuando personalmente con Aquel que sabemos que nos ama. Sobre la fraternidad y la amistad social

189. Estamos todavía lejos de una globalización de los más
derechos humanos más esenciales. Por eso, la política mundial no debe dejar de
hacer de la erradicación efectiva del hambre uno de sus
objetivos más importantes e indispensables. Al fin y al cabo, cuando
la especulación financiera determina el precio de los alimentos trata como una mercancía arbitraria
a millones de personas que padecen hambre y mueren por ello.
Por otra parte, toneladas de alimentos se tiran a la basura. Esto es un verdadero escándalo.
El hambre es un crimen, la alimentación es un derecho inalienable».
Al sumergirnos en discusiones semánticas e ideológicas, toleramos
muy a menudo que aún hoy haya hermanos y hermanas que mueren
de hambre y sed, sin un techo donde cobijarse o sin acceso
a cuidados para su salud. Junto a estas necesidades básicas
que no están cubiertas, el tráfico de seres humanos es otra desgracia para
humanidad que la política internacional al margen de sus discursos y
buenas intenciones no debe seguir tolerando. Esto es lo
mínimo.

Consideration

The brothers Cyril and Methodius (9th century) are at the foundation of the faith of the Slavic peoples. Their proclamation shows us how the Good News can unite people across all borders and cultural differences. Today, so many centuries later, the mission remains topical. The European Church faces a new evangelisation. God wants to draw on us now to re-Christianise society from its own foundations, as the first Christians did and then so many generations have continued to do. Without giving up our place in the profession and family! How much good can we do! To this end, we must live a life of living faith, meticulously making sure every day that we set aside time for prayer, interacting personally with Him whom we know He loves us. This is a task that concerns us all: let us facilitate for others the way that leads to encountering Christ. (John Paul II)

On brotherhood and social friendship

189. We are still far from a globalisation of the most
essential human rights. That is why world politics must not fail
to make the effective eradication of hunger one of its most important and
indispensable objectives. After all, when financial
speculation determines the price of food by treating it as an arbitrary commodity,
millions of people suffer hunger and die as a result.
On the other hand, tonnes of food are thrown away. That is a real scandal.
Hunger is a crime, food is an inalienable right’.
As we plunge into semantic and ideological discussions, we tolerate
very often that even today there are brothers and sisters dying
of hunger and thirst, without a roof over their heads or without access
to care for their health. Along with these basic needs
that are not being met, human trafficking is another disgrace to
humanity that international politics apart from its speeches and
good intentions should not further tolerate. This is the absolute
minimum.

Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Iedere dag beschikbaar.

Overweging
Israël zoekt antwoord op zovele vragen. Een van de meest wezenlijke is: Welke is de relatie tussen man en vrouw? Waaruit bestaat die wonderlijke aantrekkingskracht tussen beiden? Waarom is de wederzijdse aanhankelijkheid tussen man en vrouw groter dan de banden met hun ouders? De auteur van het boek Genesis geeft het antwoord: Omdat het God zelf is die man en vrouw geschapen heeft voor elkaar. Alleen een vrouw die wederhelft is, die gelijkwaardig is aan de man, kan gezellin voor Adam worden. In een uniek bruiloftslied wordt die fundamentele eenheid uitgezongen: ‘Eindelijk, been van mijn gebeente, vlees van mijn vlees’.

 

EERSTE LEZING             Gen. 2, 18-25

God bracht de vrouw naar de mens.
Zij zullen volkomen één zijn.

Uit het Boek Genesis

God de Heer sprak :
“Het is niet goed dat de mens alleen blijft.
“Ik ga een hulp voor hem maken die bij hem past.”
Toen boetseerde God de Heer uit de aarde
alle dieren op het land en alle vogels in de lucht,
en bracht die bij de mens,
om te zien hoe hij ze noemen zou :
Zoals de mens ze zou noemen, zo zouden ze heten.
De mens gaf dus namen aan al de tamme dieren
en aan de vogels in de lucht
en aan al de wilde beesten ;
maar een hulp die bij hem paste vond de mens niet.
Toen liet God de Heer de mens in een diepe slaap vallen ;
en terwijl de mens sliep,
nam Hij één van zijn ribben weg
en zette er vlees voor in de plaats.
Daarna vormde God de Heer
uit de rib die Hij bij de mens had weggenomen,
een vrouw, en bracht haar naar de mens.
Toen sprak de mens :
“Eindelijk been van mijn gebeente
en vlees van mijn vlees !
“Mannin zal zij heten,
want uit een man is zij genomen.”
Zo komt het dat een man
zijn vader en zijn moeder verlaat
en zich zo aan zijn vrouw hecht,
dat zij volkomen één worden.
Zie waren beiden naakt, de mens en zijn vrouw,
maar zij voelden geen schaamte voor elkaar.

TUSSENZANG              Ps; 128(127), 1-2, 3, 4-5

Gelukkig die Godvrezend zijt.

Gelukkig die Godvrezend zijt,
de weg des Heren gaat.
Gij zult de vrucht van eigen arbeid eten,
tevreden en voorspoedig zult gij zijn.

Uw vrouw daarbinnen in uw huis
is als een rijkbeladen wijnstok.
En als olijventakken rond de stam
zo staan uw zonen om uw tafel.

Ja, zo wordt elke man gezegend
die eer geeft aan de Heer.

De honden onder de tafel eten van de kruimels van de kinderen.

Uit het heilig evangelie van onze heer Jezus Christus volgens
Marcus

In die tijd
trok Jezus naar de streek van Tyrus en Sidon.
Hij ging er een huis binnen
en wilde niet dat iemand het te weten kwam,
maar Hij kon niet onopgemerkt blijven.
Een vrouw
wier dochtertje door een onreine geest was bezeten,
kwam dan ook, zodra ze van Hem gehoord had naderbij
en wierp zich aan zijn voeten.
De vrouw was een Helleense van Syrofenisische afkomst.
Zij vroeg Hem de duivel uit haar dochter uit te drijven.
Hij sprak tot haar :
“Laat eerst de kinderen verzadigd worden.
“Want het is niet goed
het brood dat voor de kinderen bestemd is
aan de honden te geven.”
Maar zij had een antwoord en zei Hem :
“Jawel, Heer.
“De honden onder de tafel
eten immers van de kruimels van de kinderen.”
Toen sprak Hij tot haar :
“Omdat ge dit zegt,
ga heen,
de duivel heeft uw dochter verlaten.”
Zij keerde naar huis terug,
trof haar kind te bed
en bevond dat de duivel was heengegaan.

Over broederschap en sociale vriendschap

188. Hieruit blijkt de dringende noodzaak een oplossing te vinden voor
alles wat een bedreiging vormt voor de fundamentele mensenrechten.
Politici zijn geroepen “de zorg” op zich te nemen “voor de broosheid, de
broosheid van de volken en de personen. De zorg op zich nemen voor de
broosheid betekent kracht en tederheid, betekent strijd en vruchtbaarheid
te midden van een functionalistisch en privatistisch model, dat onverbid-
delijk leidt tot een “wegwerpcultuur”. […] Het betekent zich bekommeren
om het heden in zijn meest marginale en beangstigende situatie en in staat
zijn dit met waardigheid te zalven”. Zo wordt zeker een intense activiteit
in het leven geroepen, omdat “er alles aan gedaan moet worden om de
omstandigheden en de waardigheid van de menselijke persoon te beschermen”.
De politicus is een maker, een bouwer met grote doeleinden, met
een brede, realistische en pragmatische blik, die verder gaat dan het eigen
land. De grootste zorgen van een politicus zouden niet die moeten zijn die
veroorzaakt worden door een daling in de peilingen, maar door het niet
vinden van een effectieve oplossing voor het “verschijnsel van de sociale
en economische uitsluiting met haar trieste gevolgen van mensenhandel,
handel in menselijke organen en weefsels, seksuele uitbuiting van meisjes
en jongens, slavenarbeid, met inbegrip van de prostitutie, drugs- en
wapenhandel, terrorisme en de internationale georganiseerde misdaad.
Deze situaties zijn van een zodanige orde van grootte en het aantal
onschuldige levens dat ermee gemoeid is, is zodanig dat wij iedere
verleiding moet vermijden om te vervallen in een retorisch nominalisme
met een sussende uitwerking op het geweten. Wij moeten ervoor zorgen
dat onze instellingen werkelijk doeltreffend zijn in de strijd tegen al deze
plagen”. Dit gebeurt, wanneer men verstandig de grote bronnen van de
technologische ontwikkeling benut.

Consideración

Israel busca respuestas a tantas preguntas. Una de las más esenciales es: ¿Cuál es la relación entre marido y mujer? ¿En qué consiste esta maravillosa atracción entre ambos? ¿Por qué el afecto mutuo entre marido y mujer es mayor que los lazos con sus padres? El autor del libro del Génesis da la respuesta: Porque es Dios mismo quien creó al hombre y a la mujer el uno para el otro. Sólo una mujer homóloga, igual al hombre, puede convertirse en compañera de Adán. En un canto nupcial único, se canta esa unidad fundamental: «Por fin, hueso de mis huesos, carne de mi carne».

PRIMERA LECTURA                 Gén. 2, 18-25
Dios trajo la mujer al hombre.
Serán completamente uno.

Dios el Señor habló :
«No es bueno que el hombre permanezca solo.
«Voy a hacerle una ayudante a su medida».
Entonces Dios el Señor modeló de la tierra

Una mujer
cuya hija pequeña había sido poseída por un espíritu inmundo,
tan pronto como oyó hablar de Él, se acercó
y se arrojó a sus pies.
La mujer era una helenista de ascendencia sirofenicia.
Le pidió que expulsara el demonio de su hija.
Él le dijo:
«Primero deja que los niños se sacien.
«Porque no es bueno
dar el pan de los niños
a los perros».
Pero ella tuvo una respuesta y le dijo :
«Sí, Señor.
«Los perros debajo de la mesa
comen de las migajas de los niños».
Entonces El le habló :

vete,
el diablo ha abandonado a tu hija».

Sobre la fraternidad y la amistad social

188. Esto muestra la urgente necesidad de encontrar una solución a
todo lo que amenaza los derechos humanos fundamentales.
Los políticos están llamados a «cuidar» «la fragilidad, la
fragilidad de los pueblos y de las personas. Cuidar la
fragilidad significa fuerza y ternura, significa lucha y fertilidad
en medio de un modelo funcionalista y privatista, que inexorablemente
conduce a una «cultura de usar y tirar». […] Significa preocuparse
del presente en su situación más marginal y aterradora y ser capaz de
poder ungirlo de dignidad». Así, una intensa actividad se
en ser, porque «hay que hacer todo lo posible para preservar las
condiciones y la dignidad de la persona humana».
El político es un hacedor, un constructor con grandes propósitos, con
una visión amplia, realista y pragmática, que va más allá del propio
país. Las mayores preocupaciones de un político no deben ser las
causadas por una caída en las encuestas, sino por no
encontrar una solución eficaz al «fenómeno de la exclusión social
y económica con sus tristes consecuencias de trata de seres humanos
el tráfico de órganos y tejidos humanos, la explotación sexual de niñas
y niños, el trabajo esclavo, incluida la prostitución, el tráfico de drogas y armas, el terrorismo y la delincuencia organizada internacional.
Estas situaciones son de tal magnitud y el número de
vidas inocentes implicadas son tales que deberíamos evitar cualquier
tentación caer en un nominalismo retórico
con efecto tranquilizador sobre la conciencia. Debemos garantizar
que nuestras instituciones sean realmente eficaces en la lucha contra todas estas
plagas». Esto sucede, cuando se aprovechan sabiamente los grandes recursos del
desarrollo tecnológico.

Consideration

Israel seeks answers to so many questions. One of the most essential is: What is the relationship between husband and wife? What does this wonderful attraction between the two consist of? Why is the mutual affection between husband and wife greater than the ties with their parents? The author of the book of Genesis gives the answer: Because it is God himself who created man and woman for each other. Only a woman who is counterpart, who is equal to man, can become companion for Adam. In a unique wedding song, that fundamental unity is sung out: ‘At last, bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh’.

FIRST READING               Gen. 2, 18-25
God brought woman to man.
They will be completely one.

From the Book of Genesis

God the Lord spoke :
‘It is not good that man should remain alone.
‘I am going to make a helper for him to suit him.’
Then God the Lord modelled out of the earth
all the animals of the land and all the birds of the air,
and brought them to man,
to see what he would call them :
As man would call them, so they would be called.
So man gave names to all the tame animals

On brotherhood and social friendship

188. This shows the urgent need to find a solution to
everything that threatens fundamental human rights.
Politicians are called to ‘care’ ‘for the fragility, the
frailty of peoples and persons. Taking care of the
fragility means strength and tenderness, means struggle and fertility
amid a functionalist and privatist model, which inexorably
leads inexorably to a ‘disposable culture’. […] It means caring
about the present in its most marginal and frightening situation and being able
to anoint it with dignity’. Thus, an intense activity is certainly
into being, because ‘every effort must be made to preserve the
conditions and the dignity of the human person’.
The politician is a maker, a builder with great purposes, with
a broad, realistic and pragmatic outlook, going beyond one’s own
country. A politician’s greatest concerns should not be those
caused by a drop in the polls, but by not
find an effective solution to the ‘phenomenon of social
trafficking in human organs and tissues, sexual exploitation of girls
and boys, slave labour, including prostitution, drug and
arms trade, terrorism and international organised crime.
These situations are of such an order of magnitude and the number of
innocent lives involved are such that we should avoid any
temptation falling into a rhetorical nominalism
with a soothing effect on the conscience. We must ensure
that our institutions are truly effective in the fight against all these
plagues’. This happens, when one wisely harnesses the great resources of
technological development.

het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken

Overweging  Met het tweede scheppingsverhaal begint een volgend deel van het boek Genesis, dat loopt tot het verhaal van de toren van Babel. Het tweede scheppingsverhaal is veel ouder dan het eerste: Tiende eeuw versus zesde eeuw. Zelfs iemand die niet thuis is in de Bijbel merkt het verschil: Volgens het eerste worden planten op de derde dag geschapen, maar verder lezen we dat de tuin van Eden pas aangelegd wordt na de schepping van de mens; de Godsnaam luidt in het eerste verhaal Elohim (God zoals op vele plaatsen in het Midden-Oosten: El ), in het tweede verhaal Jahweh-Elohim. Men ziet dit zelfs in de vertalingen wanneer men ze vergelijkt. De redacteur ziet deze ‘contradicties’ over het hoofd, wanneer hij beide verhalen koppelt.  

EERSTE LEZING             Gen. 2, 4b-9.15-17

God plaatste de mens die Hij geboetseerd had in de tuin.

Uit het Boek Genesis

Toen God de Heer de aarde en de hemel maakte,
waren er op aarde nog geen wilde planten
en groeide er geen enkel veldgewas,
want God had nog geen regen op aarde laten vallen
en er was nog geen mens om de grond te bebouwen,
om het water uit de aarde omhoog te halen
en de aardbodem te bevloeien.
Toen boetseerde God de Heer de mens uit stof,
van de aarde genomen,
en Hij blies hem de levensadem in de neus :
Zo werd de mens een levend wezen.
Daarna legde God de Heer een tuin aan in Eden,
ergens in het oosten,
en daarin plaatste Hij de mens die Hij geboetseerd had.
God de Heer liet uit de grond allerlei bomen opschieten,
aanlokkelijk om te zien en heerlijk om van te eten ;
daarbij was ook de boom van het leven
midden in de tuin
en de boom van de kennis van goed en kwaad.
Toen bracht God de Heer de mens in de tuin van Eden,
om die te bewerken en te beheren.
En God de Heer gaf de mens dit gebod :
“Van al de bomen in de tuin moogt ge vrij eten,
maar van de boom van de kennis van goed en kwaad
moogt ge niet eten,
want op de dag dat gij daarvan eet, moet ge sterven.”

Verheerlijk, mijn ziel, de Heer !

In die tijd riep Jezus het volk weer bij zich en sprak tot hen :
“Luistert allen naar Mij en wilt verstaan :
Niets kan de mens bezoedelen
wat van buiten af in hem komt.
“Maar wat uit de mens komt
dat bezoedelt de mens
“Als iemand oren heeft om te horen, hij luistere.”
Nadat Hij zich van het volk had teruggetrokken
en thuis gekomen was
stelden zijn leerlingen Hem vragen over de gelijkenis.
Hij antwoordde hun :
“Begrijpt ook gij nog zo weinig?
“Beseft gij dan niet,
dat al wat van buiten af in de mens komt
hem niet kan bezoedelen,
omdat het niet in zijn hart komt maar in zijn buik
en zijn weg vindt in een zekere plaats ?”
Zo verklaarde Hij alle voedsel rein.
“Maar,
-zei Hij –
wat uit de mens komt,
dat bezoedelt de mens.
“Want uit het binnenste, uit het hart van de mensen
komen boze gedachten, ontucht, diefstal, moord,
echtbreuk, hebzucht, kwaadaardigheid, bedrog,
losbandigheid, afgunst, godslastering, trots, lichtzinnigheid.
“Al die slechte dingen komen uit het binnenste
en bezoedelen de mens.”

De offers van de liefde
187. Deze liefde, die het hart vormt van de geest van de politiek, is altijd
een preferentiële liefde voor de minsten, die achter iedere activiteit ten
gunste van hen schuilt. Alleen door een blik die verruimd is door de
liefde en die deze ertoe brengt de waardigheid van de ander op te merken,
worden de armen erkend en gewaardeerd in hun immense waardigheid,
gerespecteerd in hun eigen stijl en cultuur en daarom werkelijk geïntegreerd
in de maatschappij. Deze blik is de kern van de authentieke geest
van de politiek. De wegen die zich van daaruit openen, verschillen van die
van een zielloos pragmatisme. Bijvoorbeeld “kan men niet het schandaal
van de armoede aanpakken door inperkingsstrategieën te bevorderen die
alleen maar de armen kalmeren en veranderen in tamme en ongevaarlijke
wezens. Hoe triest is het te zien dat achter vermeende altruïstische werken
de ander wordt gereduceerd tot passiviteit”. Wat nodig is, is dat er
verschillende kanalen voor meningsuiting en sociale participatie zijn.
Onderwijs staat ten dienste van deze weg, opdat ieder mens schepper van
zijn eigen bestemming kan worden. Hier laat het principe van subsidiariteit
dat niet te scheiden is van het principe van solidariteit, zijn waarde zien.

Con el segundo relato de la creación comienza otra parte del libro del Génesis, que llega hasta el relato de la torre de Babel. El segundo relato de la creación es mucho más antiguo que el primero: siglo X frente a siglo VI. Incluso alguien que no esté familiarizado con la Biblia se da cuenta de la diferencia: según el primero, las plantas se crean al tercer día, pero además, leemos que el jardín del Edén sólo se dispone después de la creación del hombre; el nombre de Dios en el primer relato es Elohim (Dios como en muchos lugares de Oriente Medio: El ), en el segundo relato Yahweh-Elohim. Esto se ve incluso en las traducciones al compararlas. El redactor pasa por alto estas «contradicciones» cuando relaciona los dos relatos.

Los sacrificios del amor

187. Este amor, que está en el corazón del espíritu de la política, es siempre
un amor preferencial por los últimos, que está detrás de toda actividad en favor de
ellos. Sólo a través de una mirada ensanchada por
amor y que la lleva a advertir la dignidad del otro,
los pobres son reconocidos y apreciados en su inmensa dignidad,
respetados en su propio estilo y cultura y, por tanto, verdaderamente integrados
en la sociedad. Esta mirada está en el corazón del auténtico espíritu
de la política. Los caminos que se abren a partir de ahí difieren de los
del pragmatismo sin alma. Por ejemplo, «¿no se puede abordar el escándalo
de la pobreza promoviendo estrategias de contención que
sólo apaciguan a los pobres y los convierten en criaturas dóciles e inofensivas.
e inofensivos. Qué triste es ver que detrás de obras supuestamente altruistas
el otro se reduce a la pasividad». Lo que hace falta es que haya
diferentes canales de expresión y participación social.
La educación está al servicio de este camino para que cada persona se convierta en creadora de

With the second creation story, another part of the book of Genesis begins, leading to the story of the tower of Babel. The second creation story is much older than the first: 10th century versus 6th century. Even someone who is not familiar with the Bible notices the difference: according to the first, plants are created on the third day, but in addition, we read that the garden of Eden is created only after the creation of man; the name of God in the first account is Elohim (God as in many places in the Middle East: El ), in the second account Yahweh-Elohim. This can be seen even in the translations when you compare them. The editor overlooks these ‘contradictions’ when relating the two accounts.

The sacrifices of love

187. This love, central to the spirit of politics, is always
a privileged love for the least, which underlies every activity in favour of
them. It is only through a gaze widened by love
and which leads to recognition of the dignity of the other,
are the poor recognised and valued in their immense dignity,
respected in their own style and culture, and thus truly integrated
into society. This vision is at the heart of the true spirit of politics.
The paths that open up from there differ from those of soulless pragmatism.
For example, ‘the scandal of poverty cannot be addressed
by promoting strategies
that only appease the poor and turn them into docile, harmless
and innocent. How sad it is to see that behind supposedly altruistic works,
the other is reduced to passivity’. What is needed are
different channels of expression and social participation.
Education is at the service of this path so that everyone becomes the creator of
their own destiny. Here is the subsidiarity principle
which cannot be separated from the solidarity principle, let see its value.

De bedevaart naar Lourdes trekt jaarlijks miljoenen bezoekers.

Uitnodiging

Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Elke dag ter beschikking

 

Overweging
In het eerste deel van Genesis ontgoddelijkt de schrijver de kosmos. Zon en maan, de goden die in Babylon aanbeden worden, maken plaats voor een eeuwige God die een bondgenoot van de mens is. Achter deze wereld, boven deze wereld staat de éne God, die de chaos, de dood, het donker, de wildernis overwint. Uiteindelijk maakt God de mens en Hij zegent hem. Hij roept de mens om er voor Hem, zijn Schepper, te zijn, in dienst van zijn schepping. Opmerkelijk: De dag waarop God de schepping voltooid heeft en rust – de zevende dag, de sabbat – is een dag die eigenlijk niet eindigt. Er staat niet geschreven, zoals bij andere dagen het geval is: ‘En het was avond geweest en ochtend, de zevende dag’. De zevende dag is een oneindige dag, de dag die de voorbode is van de eeuwige rust, van het eeuwige licht dat God beloofd heeft.

 

EERSTE LEZING                 Gen. 1, 20-2, 4a

Nu gaan wij de mens maken, als beeld van ons, op ons gelijkend.

Uit het Boek Genesis

God sprak:
“Het water moet wemelen van dieren, en boven het land
moeten de vogels vliegen langs het hemelgewelf.”
Toen schiep God de grote gedrochten van de zee
en al de krioelende dieren, waar het water van wemelt,
soort na soort,
en al de gevleugelde dieren, soort na soort.
En God zag dat het goed was.
God zegende ze en Hij sprak :
“Weest vruchtbaar en wordt talrijk ;
gij moet het water van de zee bevolken,
en de vogels moeten talrijk worden op het land.”
Het werd avond en het werd ochtend ;
dat was de vijfde dag.

God sprak :
“Het land moet levende wezens voortbrengen van allerlei soort :
Tamme dieren, kruipende dieren
en wilde beesten van allerlei soort.”
Zo gebeurde het.
God maakte de wilde beesten, soort na soort,
de tamme dieren, soort na soort,
en alles wat over de grond kruipt, soort na soort.
En God zag dat het goed was.

God sprak :
“Nu gaan wij de mens maken,
als beeld van Ons, op Ons gelijkend ;
hij zal heersen over de vissen van de zee,
over de vogels van de lucht,
over de tamme dieren, over alle wilde beesten
en over al het gedierte dat over de grond kruipt.”
En God schiep de mens als zijn beeld ;
als het beeld van God schiep Hij hem ;
man en vrouw schiep Hij hen.
God zegende hen en sprak tot hen :
Weest vruchtbaar en wordt talrijk ;
bevolkt de aarde en onderwerpt haar ;
heerst over de vissen van de zee,
over de vogels van de lucht,
en over al het gedierte dat over de grond kruipt.”
En God sprak :
“Hierbij geef Ik alle zaadvormende gewassen
op de hele aardbodem aan u,
en alle bomen met zaaddragende vruchten :
Zij zullen u tot voedsel dienen.
“Maar aan alle wilde beesten,
aan alle vogels in de lucht
en aan alles wat over de grond kruipt,
aan al wat dierlijk leven heeft,
geef Ik al het groene gewas als voedsel.”
Zo gebeurde het.
God bezag alles wat Hij gemaakt had,
en Hij zag dat het heel goed was.
Het werd avond en het werd ochtend ;
dat was de zesde dag.

Zo werden de hemel en de aarde voltooid,
en alles waarmee ze toegerust zijn.
Op de zevende dag
bracht God het werk dat Hij verricht had
tot voltooiing.

Hij rustte op de zevende dag
van al het werk dat Hij verricht had.
God zegende de zevende dag en maakte hem heilig,
want op die dag rustte God van al het werk
dat Hij scheppend tot stand had gebracht.
Dit is de geschiedenis van het ontstaan
van hemel en de aarde, zoals ze geschapen zijn.

TUSSENZANG             Ps. 8, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9

Heer, onze Heer,
hoe ontzagwekkend is uw Naam op aarde.

Als ik naar de hemel kijk,
het kunstwerk van uw vingers,
als ik maan en sterren zie, die Gij daar hebt gezet :
Ach, wat is de mens dan, dat Gij naar hem omziet,
’t mensenkind, dat Gij zo voor hem zorgt ?

Niet veel minder dan een engel hebt Gij hem geschapen,
hem omkleed met schoonheid en met pracht ;
heel uw schepping aan hem onderworpen,
alles aan zijn voeten neergelegd :

Runderen en schapen overal,
ook de wilde dieren op de velden ;
vogels in de lucht en vissen in de zee,
al wat wemelt in de oceanen.

Uw Woord is waarheid, Heer,
wijd ons U toe in de waarheid.

EVANGELIE            Mc. 7, 1-13

Gij laat het gebod van God varen
en houdt vast aan de overlevering van mensen.

Uit het heilig evangelie van onze Heer Jezus Christus volgens
Marcus

Eens kwamen de Farizeeën
en enkele schriftgeleerden uit Jeruzalem bij Jezus te samen,
en ze zagen dat sommige van zijn leerlingen met onreine,
dat wil zeggen, ongewassen handen aten.
De Farizeeën immers en al de Joden eten niet
zonder eerst de vingertoppen gewassen te hebben,
daar ze vasthouden aan de overlevering van de voorvaderen ;
komen ze van de markt,
dan eten ze niet voordat zij zich gereinigd hebben;
zo zijn er nog vele andere dingen
waaraan ze bij overlevering vasthouden :
Het afwassen van bekers, kruiken en koperen vaatwerk.

Daarom
stelden de Farizeeën en schriftgeleerden Hem de vraag :
“Waarom gedragen uw leerlingen zich niet
volgens de overlevering van de voorvaderen,
maar eten zij met onreine handen ?”
Hij antwoordde hun :
“Hoe juist heeft Jesaja over u, huichelaars geprofeteerd !
“Zo toch staat er geschreven :
Dit volk eert Mij met de lippen
maar hun hart is ver van Mij.
Zij eren Mij, maar zonder zin,
en mensenwet is wat zij leren.
“Gij laat het gebod van God varen
en houdt vast aan de overlevering van mensen :
Kruiken en bekers afwassen
en meer van dergelijke dingen doet ge.
“Het is fraai,
-vervolgde Hij –
dat gij het gebod van God buiten werking stelt
om uw overlevering te handhaven !
“Mozes heeft immers gezegd :
Eer uw vader en uw moeder, en
wie zijn vader of moeder vervloekt moet sterven.
“En toch leert gij :
Als iemand tot zijn vader of moeder zegt :
Alles waarmee ik u zou kunnen helpen, is Korban,
-dat betekent : Offergave –
dan staat ge hem niet meer toe
iets voor zijn vader of moeder te doen.
“Zo maakt ge het woord Gods krachteloos
ten gunste van uw overlevering die gij doorgeeft.
“En ge doet meer van dergelijke dingen.”

Over broederschap en sociale vriendschap

De activiteit van de politieke liefde
186. Er is een zogenaamde “ontlokte” liefde; dat zijn de daden die
rechtstreeks uit de deugd van de liefde voortkomen en gericht zijn op personen
en volken. Vervolgens is er een “verplichte” liefde: die daden van liefde die
ertoe aanzetten tot het creëren van gezondere instellingen, rechtvaardigere
voorschriften, meer solidaire structuren”. Daaruit volgt dat “een
even onontbeerlijke daad van liefde de inzet is die gericht is op het zo
organiseren en ordenen van de samenleving, dat de naaste zich niet in de
ellende bevindt”. Het is liefde om bij een persoon te zijn die lijdt, en het
is ook alles wat iemand doet, zelfs zonder direct contact met die persoon,
om de sociale omstandigheden die zijn lijden veroorzaken, te veranderen.
Als iemand een oudere helpt een rivier over te steken – en dat is een
uitmuntende liefde -, bouwt de politicus een brug voor hem, en ook dat is
liefde. Als iemand een ander helpt door hem te eten te geven, creëert de
politicus voor hem een baan en beoefent een hoogste vorm van liefde die
zijn politieke activiteit veredelt.
