This invitation is intended to share with you the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, without exception,
can experience that joy by opening their heart
to the healing power of God’s word.

Consideration
During the first days of Lent, the readings focused on what fasting actually is: how one should and should not fast, what kind of fasting pleases the Lord. In the second week, the theme of suffering comes to the fore, traditionally especially on Wednesdays and Fridays. In the Gospel, Jesus speaks bluntly about his suffering in Jerusalem. In response to the insistence of the mother of the sons of Zebedee, He repeats the theme. The theme of suffering is linked to the attitude of the servant of all: his death becomes a sacrifice of atonement.

FIRST READING                     Jer. 18:18-20

We are plotting against him.

From the Prophet Jeremiah

Those who sought the prophet’s life said:
“We are plotting against Jeremiah.
“The priests never lack instruction,
the wise never lack counsel, or the prophets never lack words.
“We no longer pay attention to what he says.”

Hear me, Lord God, listen to my complaint:
Can one repay good with evil?
Yet they dig a pit for me.
Do not forget that I stood before you
to speak on their behalf
and turn your wrath away from them.

Save me, Lord, by your grace.

I escape the net that people secretly set for me
because of You who always protect me.
I trustingly place my spirit in Your hands,

When Jesus was about to go to Jerusalem,
He took the twelve aside and on the way He said to them:
“We are going up to Jerusalem,
where the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and
scribes.
They will condemn Him to death
and hand Him over to the Gentiles
to be mocked, flogged and crucified;
but on the third day He will rise again.”
At that time, the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Jesus with them
and knelt before him to ask him something.
He said to her,
“What do you want?”
She replied,
“Let these two sons of mine sit, one at your right and one at your left, in your kingdom.”
But Jesus answered,
But Jesus answered:
“You do not know what you are asking.
“Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?”
They said to him:
“Yes, we can.”
He said:
“Indeed, you will drink my cup,
but it is not for me
to grant you a place at my right or left hand,
for only those for whom my Father has prepared it
will obtain it.”
When the ten others heard this,
they became angry with the two brothers.
But Jesus called them to him and said:
“You know that the rulers of the nations
rule them with an iron fist
and that the great ones abuse their power over them.
“This shall not be so among you;
whoever wishes to be great among you
must be your servant,
and whoever wishes to be first among you
must be your slave,
just as the Son of Man
did not come to be served,
but to serve
and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

On Care for Our Common Home

46. The social components of global change also include the effects on employment of certain technological innovations, social exclusion, inequality in the availability and consumption of energy and other services, social fragmentation, an increase in violence and the emergence of new forms of social aggression, drug trafficking and increasing drug use among the youngest, and loss of identity.
These are some of the signs that show how the growth of the last two centuries, in all its aspects, has not meant integral progress and an improvement in the quality of life.
Some of these signs are also symptoms of social decline, a silent breaking of the bonds of integration and social community.
Is this the beginning of a new era of social decline, a silent breaking of the bonds of integration and social community?

Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Overweging

“Kom dan – zegt de Heer – laten we het uipraten”. Het is nu de gunstige tijd om ons af te wenden van het kwaad. Wij mogen op de uitnodiging van de Heer ingaan,  niet zoals de farizeeën die weten hoe het allemaal moet en zichzelf boven de wet stellen. Maar,  door  onszelf in vraag te stellen als vader, als leraar, als meester.

EERSTE LEZING           Jes. 1, 10. 16-20

Leer het goede te doen en onderhoud het recht.

Uit de Profeet Jesaja

Luister ! het woord van de Heer !
“Ga u wassen, ga u reinigen ;
uit mijn ogen met uw boze daden !
“Houd op met kwaad te doen, leer het goede te doen,
onderhoud het recht, help de verdrukte,
verdedig de wees, pleit voor de weduwe.
“Kom dan – zegt de Heer – laten we het uitpraten :
Al zijn uw zonden rood als scharlaken,
zij zullen wit worden als sneeuw;
al zijn ze als purper zo rood,
ze zullen blank worden als wol.
“Als ge gewillig wilt zijn en luisteren
zult ge het goede der aarde genieten,
maar als ge blijft weigeren en u verzetten
zal het zwaard u verdelgen.”

Wie rechte wegen gaat, die vindt het heil van God.

Ik maak u over offers geen verwijt,

Zelf handelen zij niet naar hun woorden.

Uit het heilig evangelie van onze heer Jezus Christus volgens
Matteüs

In die tijd sprak Jezus tot het volk en tot zijn leerlingen :
“Op de leerstoel van Mozes
hebben de schriftgeleerden en Farizeeën plaats genomen.
“Doet en onderhoudt daarom alles wat zij u zeggen,
maar handelt niet naar hun werken ;
want zelf handelen ze niet naar hun woorden.
“Zij maken bundels van zware,
haast ondraaglijke lasten
en leggen die de mensen op de schouders,
maar zelf zullen ze er geen vinger naar uitsteken.
“Alles wat zij doen
doen zij om bij de mensen op te vallen ;
zij maken immers hun gebedsriemen breed
en hun kwasten groot,
ze zijn belust op de ereplaats bij de maaltijden

ze laten zich graag groeten op de markt
en willen door de mensen rabbi genoemd worden.
“Maar gij moet u geen rabbi laten noemen.

Over de zorg voor het gemeenschappelijk huis

45. Op sommige plaatsen in de stad en op het platteland heeft de privatisering
van landerijen de toegang van de burgers tot gebieden van een
bijzondere schoonheid moeilijk gemaakt; elders heeft men “ecologische”
woonbuurten geschapen die alleen maar ter beschikking van weinigen
staan en waar men ervoor zorgt te vermijden dat anderen binnenkomen
om een kunstmatige rust te verstoren. Vaak vindt men een mooie stad, vol
goed verzorgde groene ruimtes in enkele “veilige” gebieden, maar zo is het
niet in minder zichtbare zones, waar de uitgestotenen van de maatschappij
leven.

Consideración

«Venid, dice el Señor, y discutamos». Ahora es el momento propicio para apartarnos del mal. Podemos aceptar la invitación del Señor, no como los fariseos, que saben cómo debe hacerse todo y se colocan por encima de la ley. Pero cuestionándonos a nosotros mismos como padres, como maestros, como maestros.

PRIMERA LECTURA                      Isaías1, 10, 16-20

Aprended a hacer el bien y practicad la justicia.

Del profeta Isaías

Escuchad la palabra del Señor:
«Id, lavaos, purificaos;
quitad de delante de mis ojos vuestras malas acciones.
Dejad de hacer el mal, aprended a hacer el bien,
practicad la justicia, socorred al oprimido,
defended al huérfano, abogad por la viuda.
Venid, dice el Señor, discutamos:
aunque vuestros pecados sean rojos como la grana,

Sobre el cuidado de la casa común

45. En algunos lugares de la ciudad y del campo, la privatización
de las tierras ha dificultado el acceso de los ciudadanos a zonas de especial
belleza; en otros lugares se han creado barrios «ecológicos»
que solo están al alcance de unos pocos y donde se procura evitar que otros entren para no perturbar una paz artificial. A menudo se encuentra una ciudad hermosa, llena de espacios verdes bien cuidados en algunas zonas «seguras», pero no es así en las zonas menos visibles,
donde viven los marginados de la sociedad.

“Come then,” says the Lord, “let us reason together.” Now is the favourable time to turn away from evil. We may accept the Lord’s invitation, not like the Pharisees who know how it all works and place themselves above the law. But by questioning ourselves as fathers, as teachers, as masters.

FIRST READING                    Isa. 1, 10, 16-20

Learn to do good and uphold justice.

From the Prophet Isaiah

Listen! The word of the Lord!
“Go and wash yourselves, go and cleanse yourselves;
remove your evil deeds from my sight!
“Cease to do evil, learn to do good,
maintain justice, help the oppressed,
defend the orphan, plead for the widow.
“Come then,” says the Lord, “let us talk it over:
Though your sins are as scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall be as white as wool.
“If you are willing and obedient,
you shall eat the good of the land;
but if you refuse and rebel,
the sword shall devour you.”

45. In some places in the city and in the countryside, the privatisation
of land has made it difficult for citizens to access areas of
particular beauty; elsewhere, “ecological”
residential areas have been created that are only available to a few
and where care is taken to prevent others from entering
and disturbing the artificial tranquillity. Often one finds a beautiful city, full of
well-maintained green spaces in a few “safe” areas, but this is not the case
in less visible areas, where the outcasts of society live.

Overweging

Hoe zou het eigenlijk komen dat wij zo moeilijk vergiffenis kunnen schenken ? Zou dat iets te maken hebben met het feit dat wij uit zijn op perfectie ? Er wordt van ons verwacht dat we de maat van de Heer gebruiken in onze onderlinge contacten. Dat is de maat van de liefde. God weegt niet eerst af, Hij weet dat wij tijd nodig hebben om te leren. Gunnen wij dat elkaar ook ?

EERSTE LEZING                Dan. 9, 4b-10

Wij hebben gezondigd en kwaad gedaan.

Uit de Profeet Daniël

Ach Heer, grote en geduchte God, die het verbond gestand doet en vol erbarmen zijt
voor hen die U liefhebben en uw geboden volbrengen :
Wij hebben gezondigd en kwaad gedaan,
wij hebben goddeloos gehandeld en zijn weerspannig geweest,
wij zijn afgeweken van uw geboden en wetten ;
wij hebben niet geluisterd naar uw dienaren, de profeten,
die in uw naam gesproken hebben tot onze koningen,
hoogwaardigheidsbekleders, familiehoofden
en tot heel de gezeten bevolking van het land.
Heer, Gij staat in uw recht,
maar wij hebben reden om ons te schamen
en we staan nu ook beschaamd,
wij, de mannen van Juda,
de inwoners van Jeruzalem en heel Israël,
zowel degenen die dichtbij als veraf wonen
in de landen waarheen gij ze verstoten hebt,
omdat zij U ontrouw geworden zijn.
Heer, wij moeten ons schamen, wij, onze koningen,
onze hoogwaardigheidsbekleders en onze familiehoofden,
omdat wij tegen U gezondigd hebben.
Moge de Heer onze God barmhartig zijn en vergevensgezind,
want wij zijn weerspannig geweest tegen Hem
en wij hebben niet geluisterd naar de Heer onze God
en niet geleefd naar de geboden die Hij ons
door zijn dienaren, de profeten, gegeven heeft.

Heer, handel met ons niet zoals wij verdienen,
vergeld ons niet onze schuld. (Ps. 103(102), 10a)

Laat ons niet boeten voor vroegere zonden,
kom met uw barmhartigheid ons tegemoet,
want wij zijn maar zwakke mensen.

Ach help ons, God van ons heil, om uw Naam,
bevrijd ons, vergeef onze zonden ;
laat niemand zeggen : Waar is nu hun God ?

Tot U stijge op het gekerm der geboeiden,
bevrijd met uw macht die de dood zijn gewijd.
Maar wij zijn uw volk, Heer, uw eigen kudde,
wij zullen U prijzen in eeuwigheid,
uw lof van geslacht tot geslacht bezingen.

zal men u in de schoot storten.

PAUS FRANCISCUS 

Over de zorg voor het gemeenschappelijk huis

44. Tegenwoordig constateren wij bijvoorbeeld een mateloze en ongeordende groei van veel steden, die van het standpunt van de gezondheid bezien onleefbaar zijn geworden, niet alleen door de vervuiling die het
gevolg is van de uitstoot van giftige stoffen, maar ook door de chaos in de steden, de problemen in het vervoer en de visuele en akoestische vervuiling. Veel steden zijn grote inefficiënte structuren die overmatig veel water
en energie verbruiken. Er zijn wijken die, hoewel ze recent zijn gebouwd, verstopt zijn geraakt en ongeordend zijn, zonder voldoende groene ruimte.
Het past niet dat bewoners van deze planeet steeds meer leven omgeven door beton, asfalt, glas en metaal zonder fysiek contact met de natuur.

Consideración

¿Por qué nos cuesta tanto perdonar? ¿Tendrá que ver con el hecho de que buscamos la perfección? Se espera de nosotros que utilicemos la medida del Señor en nuestras relaciones con los demás. Esa es la medida del amor. Dios no juzga primero, sabe que necesitamos tiempo para aprender. ¿Nos concedemos ese tiempo unos a otros?

PRIMERA LECTURA                Dan. 9, 4b-10

Hemos pecado y hemos hecho el mal.

Del profeta Daniel

Oh Señor, Dios grande y temible, que cumples tu alianza y eres misericordioso
con los que te aman y cumplen tus mandamientos:
Hemos pecado y hemos hecho el mal,
hemos actuado impíamente y hemos sido rebeldes,
nos hemos apartado de tus mandamientos y leyes;
no hemos escuchado a tus siervos, los profetas,
que en tu nombre han hablado a nuestros reyes,
a los dignatarios, a los jefes de familia
y a todo el pueblo sedentario del país.
Señor, tú tienes razón,
pero nosotros tenemos motivos para avergonzarnos
y ahora estamos avergonzados,
nosotros, los hombres de Judá,

Hoy en día observamos, por ejemplo, un crecimiento desmesurado y desordenado de muchas ciudades, que desde el punto de vista de la salud se han vuelto inhabitables, no solo por la contaminación que provoca la emisión de sustancias tóxicas, sino también por el caos urbano, los problemas de transporte y la contaminación visual y acústica.
Muchas ciudades son grandes estructuras ineficaces que consumen una cantidad excesiva de agua y energía. Hay barrios que, aunque de reciente construcción, se han vuelto caóticos y desordenados, sin orden ni concierto. Consideration

Why is it so difficult for us to forgive? Could it have something to do with the fact that we strive for perfection? We are expected to use the Lord’s measure in our interactions with one another. That is the measure of love. God does not weigh things up first; He knows that we need time to learn. Do we allow each other that time?

FIRST READING                 Dan. 9, 4b-10

We have sinned and done wrong.

From the Prophet Daniel

O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant and shows mercy to those who love him and keep his commandments:
We have sinned and done wrong,
we have acted wickedly and been rebellious,
we have strayed from your commandments and laws;
we have not listened to your servants, the prophets,
who spoke in your name to our kings,
dignitaries, heads of families,
and to all the settled population of the land.
Lord, You are in Your right,
but we have reason to be ashamed,
and we are now ashamed,
we, the men of Judah,

44. Today, for example, we see the excessive and disorderly growth of many cities, which have become unliveable from a health perspective, not only because of the pollution caused by the emission of toxic substances, but also because of the chaos in the cities, the problems with transport and the visual and acoustic pollution.
Many cities are large, inefficient structures that consume excessive amounts of water and energy. There are neighbourhoods that, although recently built, have become congested and disorderly, without any sense of community. Uitnodiging

Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Openingswoord

Veertig dagen lang bereiden we ons voor op de paasnacht
waarin we het licht van de verrijzenis zullen bezingen.
De liturgie van deze zondag
biedt ons nu reeds een uitzicht op dit paaslicht.
Boven op de berg verandert Jezus van gedaante,
straalt zijn gelaat als de zon
en wordt zijn kleed glanzend als het licht.
Jezus nodigt ons tijdens deze eucharistieviering uit
om met Hem mee te gaan op de berg
en Gods aanwezigheid intens te ervaren.
Laten we ons hart openen voor zijn Woord
en genieten van het licht dat Hij ons schenkt.

EERSTE LEZING               Gen. 12, 1-4a
Roeping van Abram, de vader van het volk van God.

Uit het Boek Genesis

In die dagen zei de Heer tot Abram:
“Trek weg uit uw land, uw stam en uw familie,
naar het land dat Ik u zal aanwijzen.
“Ik zal een groot volk van u maken.

Dierbare,

Draag uw deel in het lijden voor het evangelie,

van alle eeuwigheid ons verleend in Christus Jezus.

In die tijd nam Jezus
Petrus, Jakobus en diens broer Johannes met zich mee
en bracht hen boven op een hoge berg,

en zijn kleed werd glanzend als het licht.
Opeens verschenen hun Mozes en Elia,
die zich met Hem onderhielden.

Petrus nam het woord en zei tot Jezus:
“Heer, het is goed dat wij hier zijn.
“Als Gij wilt zal ik hier drie tenten opslaan,
een voor U,
een voor Mozes en een voor Elia.”
Nog was hij niet uitgesproken
of een lichtende wolk overschaduwde hen

“Dit is mijn Zoon, de Welbeminde,
in wie Ik mijn welbehagen heb gesteld;
luistert naar Hem.”
Op het horen daarvan
wierpen de leerlingen zich ter aarde neer,
aangegrepen door een hevige vrees.

Maar Jezus kwam naar hen toe,
raakte hen aan en zei:
“Staat op, en weest niet bang.”
Toen zij hun ogen opsloegen,
zagen zij niemand meer dan alleen Jezus.
Onder het afdalen van de berg gelastte Jezus hun:
“Spreekt met niemand over wat ge hebt aanschouwd
voordat de Mensenzoon uit de doden is opgestaan.”

la lectura diaria del Evangelio?

Esta invitación quiere hacerle partícipe de la alegría

Durante cuarenta días nos preparamos para la noche de Pascua

Jesús nos invita durante esta celebración eucarística
a acompañarlo a la montaña
y a experimentar intensamente la presencia de Dios.

For forty days we prepare ourselves for Easter night
when we will sing the light of the resurrection.
The liturgy of this Sunday
already offers us a glimpse of this Easter light.
On top of the mountain, Jesus changes his appearance,
his face shines like the sun,
and his clothes become as bright as the light.
During this Eucharistic celebration, Jesus invites us
to go with him up the mountain
and experience God’s presence intensely.
