La solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad
nos permite profundizar en el misterio de Dios,

Con sus palabras y sus obras, Jesús ha dado a conocer a su Padre.
Cada día nos invita de nuevo
a participar del amor del Padre
y a confiar en la fuerza del Espíritu.

a lo que la propia ciencia biológica, desarrollada con independencia de los intereses económicos,
puede enseñarnos sobre las estructuras biológicas, sus posibilidades y sus cambios.

desarrollarse de acuerdo con su esencia, la de la creación, la que Dios ha querido»

Introduction
Although the great feasts of Easter and Pentecost are past,
we are celebrating a great feast today as well.
The Solemnity of the Holy Trinity
allows us to penetrate more deeply into the mystery of God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
In word and deed, Jesus has made his Father known.
Day after day, He invites us
to share in the Father’s love
and to trust in the power of the Spirit.
Let us open our hearts
to the love of the Triune God.

The Lord is a merciful and compassionate God.

In those days, Moses went up early in the morning
to Mount Sinai,
as the Lord had commanded him.

It is within this context that any reflection on human intervention in the animal and plant world must be situated, an intervention which today involves genetic modifications brought about by biotechnology, with the aim of exploiting the possibilities present in material reality. Respect for faith in reason calls for attention to be paid to what biological science itself, which has developed independently of economic interests, can teach us about biological structures and their potential and changes. In any case, an intervention in nature is “to help it to develop
in accordance with its nature, that of creation, the one willed by God”

Uitnodiging

Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Iedere dag beschikbaar.

Openingswoord

Het evangelie is nogal bruuskerend, het dwingt tot zelfreflectie.
De vijgenboom staat symbool voor ons eigen leven:
dragen we vruchten van liefde en barmhartigheid,
of blijft het bij mooie bladeren en uiterlijke schijn?
En de tempelreiniging vraagt ons:
is ons hart nog een plek van gebed en ontmoeting,
of laten we het dichtslibben met de drukte en de ‘handel’ van alle dag?

 

EERSTE LEZING                                     1 Petr. 4, 7-13

Weest goede beheerders van Gods veelsoortige genade.

Uit de eerste brief van de heilige apostel Petrus

Broeders en zusters,

Het einde van alle dingen is nabij.
Weest dus bezonnen en nuchter
opdat gij kunt bidden.
Beoefent vooral de onderlinge liefde met volharding
want de liefde bedekt tal van zonden.
Betoont elkander gastvrijheid zonder morren.
Dient elkaar
als goede beheerders van Gods veelsoortige genade,
met de gaven zoals ieder die heeft ontvangen.
Wie spreekt
moet beseffen dat hij Gods woorden spreekt.

Mijn huis zal een huis van gebed genoemd worden
voor alle volkeren.

Uit het heilig evangelie van onze Heer Jezus Christus volgens
Marcus

In die tijd trok Jezus Jeruzalem binnen, de tempel in.
Nadat Hij er alles in ogenschouw had genomen
keerde Hij, omdat het al laat was,
met de twaalf naar Betanië terug.
Toen zij de volgende dag Betanië verlaten hadden
kreeg Hij honger.
Hij zag in de verte een vijgenboom in blad staan
en ging kijken of Hij er misschien iets aan kon vinden ;
maar bij de boom gekomen vond Hij niets dan bladeren ;
het was trouwens niet de tijd van de vijgen.
Daarom richtte Hij zich tot de boom en zei :
“Niemand zal in eeuwigheid nog vruchten van je eten !”
Zijn leerlingen hoorden dat.
Toen ze in Jeruzalem kwamen ging Hij naar de tempel
en begon de kopers en verkopers het tempelplein af te jagen ;
Hij wierp de tafels van de geldwisselaars omver
en de stoeltjes van de duivenverkopers,
en ook duldde Hij niet
dat nog iemand enig voorwerp over het tempelplein droeg.
En Hij gaf hun als verklaring :
“Staat er niet geschreven :
Mijn huis
zal een huis van gebed worden genoemd voor alle volkeren ?
“Maar gij hebt er een rovershol van gemaakt.”
De hogepriesters en schriftgeleerden die dat gehoord hadden
zochten een mogelijkheid om Hem ter dood te brengen.
Ze vreesden Hem namelijk
omdat heel het volk verrukt was over zijn leer.
In de avond verlieten zij de stad weer.

‘s Morgens kwamen zij langs de vijgenboom
en ze zagen dat hij tot op de wortel verdord was.
Petrus dacht weer terug aan het gebeurde en zei :
“Meester, kijk !
“De vijgenboom die Gij vervloekt hebt is verdord.”
Jezus antwoordde hun :
“Hebt geloof in God.
“Voorwaar, Ik zeg u :
“Als iemand tot deze berg zegt : Hef u op en stort u in zee,
en als hij in zijn hart niet twijfelt
maar gelooft dat gebeuren zal wat hij zegt,
voor hem zal het werkelijkheid worden.
“Daarom zeg Ik u :
“Alles wat ge in het gebed vraagt,
gelooft dat ge het al verkregen hebt
en ge zult het verkrijgen.

“Hebt ge iets tegen iemand terwijl ge staat te bidden,
vergeeft het dan, opdat ook uw Vader in de hemel
uw tekortkomingen moge vergeven.”

Palabras de apertura

El Evangelio es bastante provocador, nos obliga a la autorreflexión.
La higuera simboliza nuestra propia vida:
¿damos frutos de amor y misericordia,
o nos quedamos en las hojas bonitas y las apariencias externas?
Y la purificación del templo nos pregunta:
¿sigue siendo nuestro corazón un lugar de oración y encuentro,
o dejamos que se obstruya con el ajetreo y las «actividades» del día a día?

PRIMERA LECTURA                    1 Pe 4, 7-13

Sed buenos administradores de la multiforme gracia de Dios.

De la primera carta del santo apóstol Pedro

Hermanos y hermanas,

El fin de todas las cosas está cerca.
Sed, pues, sensatos y sobrios
para que podáis orar.
Practicaos sobre todo el amor mutuo con perseverancia,
pues el amor cubre multitud de pecados.
Prestaos hospitalidad unos a otros sin murmuraciones.
Servíos unos a otros
como buenos administradores de la multiforme gracia de Dios,

En aquellos días, Jesús entró en Jerusalén, en el templo.
Después de haberlo observado todo,
como ya era tarde,
regresó con los doce a Betania.
Al salir de Betania al día siguiente,
le entró hambre.
Vio a lo lejos una higuera en hoja
y se acercó para ver si encontraba algo en ella;
pero al llegar al árbol no encontró más que hojas;
además, no era la época de los higos.
Por eso se dirigió al árbol y dijo:
«¡Que nadie vuelva a comer fruto de ti jamás!»
Sus discípulos lo oyeron.
Cuando llegaron a Jerusalén, se dirigió al templo
y comenzó a expulsar a los compradores y vendedores de la plaza del templo;
volcó las mesas de los cambistas
y los taburetes de los vendedores de palomas,
y tampoco toleró
que nadie más llevara ningún objeto por la plaza del templo.
Y les dio esta explicación:
«¿No está escrito:
Mi casa
será llamada casa de oración para todos los pueblos?
Pero vosotros la habéis convertido en una cueva de ladrones».
Los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas, al oír esto,
buscaban una manera de matarlo.
Porque le temían,
pues todo el pueblo se maravillaba de su enseñanza.
Al atardecer salieron de la ciudad.
Por la mañana pasaron junto a la higuera
y vieron que se había secado hasta la raíz.
Pedro recordó lo sucedido y dijo:
«Maestro, ¡mira!
La higuera que maldijiste se ha secado».
Jesús les respondió:
«Tened fe en Dios.
En verdad os digo:
Si alguien le dice a esta montaña: “Levántate y arrójate al mar”,
y no duda en su corazón,
sino que cree que sucederá lo que dice,
para él se hará realidad.
«Por eso os digo:
«Todo lo que pidáis en la oración,
creed que ya lo habéis recibido
y lo obtendréis.

«Si tenéis algo contra alguien mientras estáis orando,

This invitation aims to share with you the joy of the Gospel.

Opening words

The Gospel is rather jarring; it compels us to self-reflection.
The fig tree symbolises our own lives:
do we bear fruits of love and mercy,
or do we remain with just beautiful leaves and outward appearances?
And the cleansing of the temple asks us:
is our heart still a place of prayer and encounter,
or do we allow it to become clogged with the hustle and bustle and the ‘business’ of everyday life?

FIRST READING                              1 Pet. 4:7–13

Be good stewards of God’s manifold grace.

From the first letter of Saint Peter the Apostle

Brothers and sisters,

The end of all things is near.
Be therefore sober and self-controlled,
so that you may pray.
Above all, practise mutual love with perseverance,
for love covers a multitude of sins.
Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.
Serve one another
as good stewards of God’s manifold grace,
with the gifts each of you has received.
Whoever speaks
must realise that he speaks God’s words.
Whoever serves, let him do so in the strength which God supplies.
Then in all things God will be glorified through Jesus Christ,
to whom be the glory
and the power for ever and ever.
Amen.

Dear friends,
do not be surprised at the fire
that is raging among you to purify you,
as though something unusual were happening to you.

and went to see if He might find anything on it;
but when He came to the tree, He found nothing but leaves;
it was not the season for figs, after all.
Therefore He addressed the tree and said:
“No one shall ever eat fruit from you again!”
His disciples heard this.
When they came to Jerusalem, He went to the temple;
and began to drive the buyers and sellers out of the temple courtyard;
He overturned the tables of the money-changers
and the stools of the pigeon sellers,
and He would not tolerate
anyone carrying any goods through the temple courtyard.
And He explained to them:
“Is it not written:
My house
shall be called a house of prayer for all nations?
“But you have made it a den of thieves.”
The chief priests and the scribes who heard this
sought a way to put Him to death.
For they feared Him,
because the whole crowd was delighted with His teaching.
In the evening they left the city again.

In the morning they came past the fig tree
and saw that it had withered right down to the roots.
Peter remembered what had happened and said:

“The fig tree that You cursed has withered.”

Overweging

De lezing van vandaag is zo rijk en staat zo vol met verwijzingen naar O.T. en N.T. dat we wel moeten kiezen. Nemen we dan de levende steen die Christus zelf is. Dit is een verwijzing naar Jesaja (8, 14). Het blijft een pijnlijke vaststelling dat het joodse volk zich stootte aan wat juist zijn fundering moest zijn. Die steen wordt een levende steen en alle gelovigen zijn levende stenen van de geestelijke tempel, de Kerk, die de verwoeste tempel van Jerusalem vervangt. Dit is in eenklank met de spiritualisering van het tempelbegrip in het Nieuwe Testament.

Gij zijt een koninklijke priesterschap, een heilige natie,
bestemd om de roemruchte daden te verkondigen
van Hem die u geroepen heeft.

Uit de eerste brief van de heilige apostel Petrus

Broeders en zusters,
Weest als pasgeboren kinderen,
begerig naar de geestelijke, onvervalste melk
die u wasdom zal schenken ter zaligheid.
Gij hebt immers al geproefd van de zoetheid des Heren.

Treedt toe tot Hem,
de levende steen,
door de mensen verworpen
maar uitverkoren en kostbaar in het oog van God.
Laat ook uzelf
als levende stenen
voegen in de bouw van de geestelijke tempel.
Draagt als een heilige priesterschap geestelijke offers op,
die welgevallig zijn aan God
door Jezus Christus.
Want gij zijt een uitverkoren geslacht,
een koninklijke priesterschap,
een heilige natie, Gods eigen volk,
bestemd om de roemruchte daden te verkondigen van Hem
die u uit de duisternis

vroeger van genade verstoken,
nu begenadigd.

Dierbare vrienden,
ik vraag u
als vreemdelingen en ballingen u te onthouden
van zondige lusten die strijd voeren tegen de ziel.
Leidt onder de heidenen een voorbeeldig leven;
dan zullen zij die u nog als boosdoeners belasteren,
bij nader toezien God om uw goede daden verheerlijken
op de dag dat Hij komt rechtspreken.

Uit het heilig evangelie van onze Heer Jezus Christus volgens
Marcus

In die tijd toen Jezus,
vergezeld van zijn leerlingen en een flinke menigte
uit Jericho wegtrok,
zat een blinde bedelaar langs de weg,
Bartimeüs, de zoon van Timeüs.
Zodra hij hoorde dat het Jezus de Nazarener was
begon hij luidkeels te roepen :
“Jezus, Zoon van David,
heb medelijden met mij !”
Velen snauwden hem toe te zwijgen,
maar hij riep nog veel harder :
“Zoon van David, heb medelijden met mij!”
Jezus bleef staan en zei :
“Roept hem eens hier.”
Ze riepen de blinde toe :
“Heb goede moed !
Sta op, Hij roept u.”
Hij wierp zijn mantel af,
sprong overeind en kwam naar Jezus toe.
Jezus vroeg hem :
“Wat wilt ge dat Ik voor u doe ?”
De blinde antwoordde Hem :
“Rabboeni, maak dat ik zien kan !”
En Jezus sprak tot hem :
“Ga, uw geloof heeft u genezen.”
Terstond kon hij zien
en hij sloot zich bij Hem aan op zijn tocht.

129. Wil het mogelijk blijven werk te bieden, dan is het onontbeerlijk een
economie te bevorderen die een veelheid van productie en creativiteit van
ondernemen begunstigt. Er is bijvoorbeeld een grote verscheidenheid aan
landbouwsystemen voor voedsel op kleine schaal, die het merendeel van de
wereldbevolking blijft voeden, waarbij een beperkt gedeelte van de grond
en het water wordt gebruikt en minder afval wordt geproduceerd, hetzij op
kleine stukjes bouwland en in moestuinen, hetzij bij de jacht en de oogst
van bosproducten, hetzij bij kleinschalige visserij. Grootschaligheid dwingt
vooral in de agrarische sector de kleine boeren hun land te verkopen of van
hun traditionele productiemethoden af te stappen. Pogingen van enkelen
van hen om andere, meer gediversifieerde vormen van productie te ontwikkelen
blijken nutteloos op grond van de moeilijkheid om toegang te krijgen
tot de regionale of wereldmarkten of omdat de infrastructuur van verkoop
en vervoer ten dienste staat van de grote ondernemingen. De autoriteiten
hebben het recht en de verantwoordelijkheid maatregelen te nemen die een
duidelijke en krachtige steun zijn voor de kleine producenten en de diversificatie
van de productie. Een economische vrijheid waarvan allen werkelijk
profijt hebben, kan het soms noodzakelijk maken degenen die de meeste
middelen en financiële macht bezitten, grenzen te stellen. Een louter
theoretische economische vrijheid, waarbij de omstandigheden het verhinderen
dat velen er in werkelijkheid gebruik van kunnen maken, en de toegang tot
werk wordt verminderd, wordt een tegenstrijdig verhaal dat de politiek
geen eer aandoet. Ondernemerschap, dat een nobele roeping is, gericht op
het produceren van rijkdom en de verbetering van de wereld voor allen,
kan een zeer vruchtbare methode zijn om de streek waarin de activiteiten
plaatsvinden, een impuls te geven, vooral als men begrijpt dat het scheppen
van arbeidsplaatsen een onontbeerlijk onderdeel vormt van dienst aan
het algemeen welzijn.

¿Puedo pedirle que preste atención a
la lectura diaria del Evangelio?

Esta invitación tiene por objeto hacerle partícipe de la alegría
del Evangelio. Todos, sin excepción,
pueden experimentar esa alegría abriendo su corazón
a la acción sanadora de la palabra de Dios.

Consideración

La lectura de hoy es tan rica y está tan llena de referencias al Antiguo y al Nuevo Testamento que nos vemos obligados a elegir. Tomemos, pues, lapiedra viva quees el mismo Cristo. Se trata de una referencia a Isaías (8, 14). Sigue siendo doloroso constatar que el pueblo judío tropezó precisamente con lo que debía ser su fundamento. Esa piedra se convierte en una piedra viva y todos los creyentes son piedras vivas del templo espiritual, la Iglesia, que sustituye al templo destruido de Jerusalén. Esto está en consonancia con la espiritualización del concepto de templo en el Nuevo Testamento.

Vosotros sois un sacerdocio real, una nación santa,
destinados a proclamar las gloriosas obras
de Aquel que os ha llamado.

De la primera carta del santo apóstol Pedro

Hermanos y hermanas,

¡Rabúni, haz que vea!

Del santo Evangelio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo según
Marcos

En aquel tiempo, cuando Jesús,
acompañado de sus discípulos y de una gran multitud,
salía de Jericó,
había un mendigo ciego sentado al borde del camino,
Bartimeo, hijo de Timeo.
En cuanto oyó que era Jesús el Nazareno,
comenzó a gritar a voz en cuello:
«¡Jesús, Hijo de David,
ten piedad de mí!».
Muchos le reprendían para que callara,
pero él gritaba aún más fuerte:
«¡Hijo de David, ten piedad de mí!».
Jesús se detuvo y dijo:
«Llamadlo aquí».
Le gritaron al ciego:
«¡Ánimo!
Levántate, te llama».
Él se quitó el manto,
se puso de pie de un salto y se acercó a Jesús.
Jesús le preguntó:
«¿Qué quieres que haga por ti?»
El ciego le respondió:
«Rabúni, ¡que pueda ver!».
Y Jesús le dijo:
«Vete, tu fe te ha curado».
Al instante pudo ver

129. Para que siga siendo posible ofrecer trabajo, es indispensable promover una
economía que favorezca la diversidad de la producción y la creatividad de
la iniciativa empresarial. Existe, por ejemplo, una gran variedad de
sistemas agrícolas de pequeña escala para la producción de alimentos, que
siguen alimentando a la mayor parte de la
población mundial, utilizando una parte limitada de la tierra
y el agua y se producen menos residuos, ya sea en
pequeñas parcelas de tierra de cultivo y huertos, ya sea mediante la caza y la recolección
de productos forestales, o mediante la pesca a pequeña escala. La producción a gran escala obliga,
sobre todo en el sector agrícola, a los pequeños agricultores a vender sus tierras o a
abandonar sus métodos de producción tradicionales. Los intentos de algunos de ellos de desarrollar otras formas de producción más diversificadas resultan inútiles debido a la dificultad para acceder a los mercados regionales o mundiales, o porque la infraestructura de venta y transporte está al servicio de las grandes empresas. Las autoridades
tienen el derecho y la responsabilidad de adoptar medidas que constituyan un
apoyo claro y firme a los pequeños productores y a la diversificación
de la producción. Una libertad económica de la que todos se beneficien realmente
puede hacer necesario, en ocasiones, poner límites a quienes poseen la mayor parte
de los recursos y el poder financiero. Una mera
teórica, en la que las circunstancias impiden
que muchos puedan hacer uso de ella en la realidad, y se reduce el acceso al
trabajo, se convierte en una historia contradictoria que no hace honor a la política.
El espíritu empresarial, que es una noble vocación, orientada a
la creación de riqueza y la mejora del mundo para todos,
puede ser un método muy fructífero para impulsar la región en la que se desarrollan las actividades,
sobre todo si se comprende que la creación
de puestos de trabajo constituye una parte indispensable del servicio
al bienestar general.
