Mag ik hierbij uw aandacht vestigen op
de dagelijkse lezing van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil de vreugde
van het Evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door hun harten te openen
voor de helende kracht van Gods woord.

Overweging
Paulus komt met zijn metgezellen aan in Filippi, een belangrijke stad en Romeinse kolonie. Daar ontvangt hij gastvrijheid van Lydia. Aan Filippi heeft Paulus, ondanks veel tegenwerking (zie morgen), de beste herinneringen. Zijn brief aan de gemeente van Filippi bevat niet de gebruikelijke en soms scherpe terechtwijzingen (vgl. 1 en 2 Kor.) maar loopt over van waardering en sympathie. Alleen van de Filippenzen wilde hij geldelijke steun ontvangen in zijn nood.

EERSTE LEZING   Handelingen 16:11-15
De Heer maakt het hart van een godvrezende vrouw ontvankelijk voor wat Paulus zei.

Uit de Handelingen der Apostelen

Wij – Paulus en Silas –
zeilden van Troas en gingen eerst naar Samotrake,
de volgende dag naar Neapolis
en vervolgens naar Filippi,
een stad in het eerste district van Macedonië en een kolonie.
In die stad bleven we enkele dagen.
Op de sabbat gingen we buiten de poort
naar de rivieroever, waar we dachten dat er een gebedsplaats was.
We gingen zitten
en spraken de vrouwen aan die daar verzameld waren.
Een zekere Lydia luisterde ook,
die uit de stad Tyatira kwam
en purperen stoffen verkocht.
Ze was een godvrezende
en de Heer maakte haar hart ontvankelijk
voor wat Paulus zei.
Nadat zij en haar huisgenoten gedoopt waren
nodigde ze ons uit en zei:
“Als jullie van mening zijn
dat ik echt in de Heer geloof ,
kom dan in mijn huis
en ga daar wonen.”
En ze drong er bij ons sterk op aan.

Onze Heer, die zijn volk liefheeft,
omkranst de onderdrukten met overwinningskransen.

Over broederschap en sociale vriendschap

2. Deze zuster protesteert tegen de schade die wij haar berokkenen, door
het onverantwoorde gebruik en misbruik van de goederen die God
in haar heeft gestopt. We zijn opgegroeid met het idee dat we haar eigenaar
en heer waren, gemachtigd om haar te plunderen. Het geweld dat in het
door de zonde verwonde hart van de mens is ook zichtbaar in
de ziektesymptomen die we waarnemen in de bodem, het water, de lucht en de levende wezens
wezens. Daarom is onze verdrukte en verwoeste
aarde, die “kreunt en barensweeën heeft” (Rom. 8:22), tot de meest verlaten
verlaten en slecht behandelde armen. We vergeten dat we zelf gemaakt zijn van
aarde (vgl. Gen. 2:7). Ons lichaam zelf is gevormd door de
elementen van de planeet; haar lucht geeft ons adem en haar water
geeft ons leven en verfrist ons.

la lectura diaria del Evangelio

Esta invitación quiere compartir contigo la alegría

Consideración
Pablo llega con sus compañeros a Filipos, ciudad importante y colonia romana. Allí recibe la hospitalidad de Lidia. De Filipos, a pesar de las muchas oposiciones (véase mañana), Pablo guarda los mejores recuerdos. Su carta a la iglesia de Filipos no contiene las habituales y a veces agudas reprimendas (cf. 1 y 2 cor.), sino que rebosa aprecio y simpatía. Sólo de los filipenses quería recibir ayuda monetaria en su angustia.

El Señor hace receptivo el corazón de una mujer temerosa de Dios a lo dicho por Pablo.

2. Esta hermana protesta por el daño que le estamos causando, a causa de
el uso y abuso irresponsable de los bienes que Dios ha
ha puesto en ella. Crecimos pensando que éramos su dueño
y señor, autorizados a saquearla. La violencia que entró en el
corazón herido por el pecado del hombre se manifiesta también en
los síntomas de enfermedad que percibimos en el suelo, el agua,
el aire y los seres vivos seres vivos. Por eso, nuestra oprimida y devastada
tierra, que “gime y sufre dolores de parto” (Rom. 8:22), se encuentra
entre los más abandonados pobres abandonados y maltratados.
Olvidamos que nosotros mismos estamos hechos de
tierra (cf. Gn 2,7). Nuestro propio cuerpo está formado por los
elementos del planeta; su aire nos da aliento y su agua

Consideration
Paul arrives with his companions in Philippi, an important city and Roman colony. There he receives hospitality from Lydia. To Philippi, despite many opposition (see tomorrow), Paul has the best memories. His letter to the church of Philippi does not have the usual and sometimes sharp reprimands (cf. 1 and 2 cor.) but overflows with appreciation and sympathy. Only from the Philippians did he want to receive monetary support in his distress.

The Lord makes the heart of a God-fearing woman receptive to what was said by Paul.

We – Paul and Silas –
sailed from Troas and first headed for Samotrake,

In that city we stayed several days.

2. This sister protests for the damage we are causing her, because of
the irresponsible use and abuse of the goods that God has
has put in her. We grew up thinking that we were her owner
and lord, authorised to plunder her. The violence that went into the
sin-wounded heart of man is also evident in
the symptoms of disease we perceive in the soil, water, air and living
creatures. Therefore, our oppressed and devastated
earth, which “groans and suffers travail” (Rom. 8:22), is among the most abandoned
abandoned and ill-treated poor. We forget that we ourselves are made of
earth (cf. Gen 2:7). Our body itself is formed by the

Wanneer we afscheid moeten nemen van een geliefde,
is het een troost om te beseffen en te voelen
dat we er uiteindelijk niet alleen voor staan.
Wanneer Jezus tot zijn leerlingen spreekt over de dag
waarop Hij teruggaat naar zijn Vader,
troost Hij hen dan ook met de belofte
dat de Heilige Geest hen zal bijstaan en leiden.
Laten we bidden dat de Heilige Geest ook ons helpt
en dat we ons, dankzij zijn kracht en sterkte,
nooit alleen of in de steek gelaten voelen.

EERSTE LEZING             Hand. 15,1-2.22-29
De heilige Geest en wij hebben besloten u geen zwaardere last op te leggen dan het strikt noodzakelijke.

In die dagen verkondigden enige mensen
die van Judea waren gekomen, aan de broeders de leer:
“Indien ge u niet naar Mozaïsch gebruik laat besnijden,
kunt ge niet gered worden.”
Toen hierover onenigheid ontstond
en Paulus en Barnabas
in een felle woordenwisseling met hen raakten,
droeg men Paulus en Barnabas
en enkele andere leden van de gemeente op
met deze strijdvraag
naar de apostelen en oudsten in Jeruzalem te gaan.
Deze besloten samen met de hele gemeente
enige mannen uit hun midden te kiezen
en met Paulus en Barnabas naar Antiochíë te sturen:
Judas, bijgenaamd Barsabbas,
en Silas, mannen van aanzien onder de broeders,
en hun het volgende schrijven mee te geven:
“De apostelen en de oudsten zenden hun broederlijke groet
aan de broeders uit de heidenen in Antiochíë,
Syrië en Cilícië.
Daar wij gehoord hebben
dat sommigen van ons
u door woorden in verwarring hebben gebracht
en uw gemoederen hebben verontrust,
zonder dat ze van ons enige opdracht hebben gekregen
hebben wij eenstemmig besloten

terwijl zij van God uit de hemel neerdaalde,
stralend van de heerlijkheid Gods:
zij schitterde als het kostbaarste gesteente
en als kristalheldere jaspis.
De Stad
was omringd door een zeer hoge muur met twaalf poorten
en aan de poorten stonden twaalf engelen:
namen waren daarop gegrift,
de namen van de twaalf stammen van Israël.
Er waren drie poorten op het oosten, drie op het noorden,
drie op het zuiden en drie op het westen.
En de stadsmuur had twaalf grond-stenen

Maar een tempel zag ik er niet
want God, de Heer, de Albeheerser is haar tempel
zoals ook het Lam.
En de Stad heeft het licht van zon en maan niet nodig,
want de luister van God verlicht haar
en haar lamp is het Lam.

Wees geprezen mijn Heer
1. “Wees geprezen, mijn Heer”, zong de heilige Franciscus van Assisi. In
dit mooie loflied herinnerde hij ons eraan dat ons gemeenschappelijke huis
als het ware een zuster is met wie wij het bestaan delen, en als een mooie
moeder die ons in haar armen neemt: “Wees geprezen, mijn Heer, om onze
zuster aarde, die ons voedt en leidt en verscheidene vruchten voortbrengt
met kleurrijke bloemen en kruiden”.

Palabra de apertura

Cuando tenemos que despedirnos de un ser querido
es un consuelo darse cuenta y sentir
que al final no estamos solos.
Cuando Jesús habla a sus discípulos del día
en que regresará a su Padre,
les consuela con la promesa
de que el Espíritu Santo les asistirá y guiará.
Recemos para que el Espíritu Santo nos ayude también a nosotros
y para que, gracias a su poder y a su fuerza
nunca nos sintamos solos o abandonados.

PRIMERA LECTURA               Hch 15,1-2.22-29
El Espíritu Santo y nosotros hemos decidido no imponeros una carga más pesada de lo estrictamente necesario.

En aquellos días algunos hombres
que habían venido de Judea, proclamaron a los hermanos la doctrina:
“Si no estáis circuncidados según la costumbre mosaica,
no podéis salvaros”
Cuando surgió el desacuerdo sobre esto
y Pablo y Bernabé
entraron en un feroz altercado con ellos,
instruyeron a Pablo y Bernabé
y a algunos otros miembros de la congregación que
con esta combativa cuestión
a los apóstoles y ancianos de Jerusalén.
Estos decidieron junto con toda la congregación
elegir algunos hombres de entre ellos
y enviarlos con Pablo y Bernabé a Antioquía:
Judas, apodado Barrabás,
y Silas, hombres distinguidos entre los hermanos,
y darles el siguiente escrito:
“Los apóstoles y los ancianos saludan fraternalmente
a los hermanos de entre los gentiles en Antioquía,
Siria y Cilicia.
Puesto que hemos oído
que algunos de nosotros
os han confundido con palabras
y han perturbado vuestras mentes

Me mostró la Ciudad santa que bajó del cielo.

Un ángel me trajo, Juan
en el espíritu a una montaña muy alta
y me mostró la ciudad santa, Jerusalén,
mientras descendía del cielo de Dios,
radiante con la gloria de Dios:
resplandecía como la piedra más preciosa
y como jaspe cristalino.
La Ciudad
estaba rodeada de una muralla muy alta con doce puertas
y en las puertas había doce ángeles:
en ellas estaban inscritos los nombres
los nombres de las doce tribus de Israel.
Había tres puertas al este, tres al norte,
tres al sur y tres al oeste.
Y el muro de la ciudad tenía doce piedras de cimentación
y sobre ellas estaban los doce nombres

madre que nos acoge en sus brazos: “Alabada seas, Señor mío, por
nuestra hermana la tierra, que nos nutre y nos guía y nos da muchos frutos

Opening word

When we have to say goodbye to a loved one,
it is a comfort to realise and feel
that we are not alone in the end.
When Jesus speaks to his disciples about the day
on which He will return to His Father,
he comforts them with the promise
that the Holy Spirit will assist and guide them.
Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will also help us
and that, thanks to His power and strength, we will
never feel alone or abandoned.

FIRST READING             Acts 15:1-2,22-29
The Holy Spirit and we have decided not to impose a heavier burden on you than the strictly necessary.

In those days some men
who had come from Judea, proclaimed to the brethren the doctrine:
“If you are not circumcised according to Mosaic custom,
you cannot be saved.”
When disagreement arose over this
and Paul and Barnabas
got into a fierce altercation with them,
they instructed Paul and Barnabas
and some other members of the congregation to
with this combative question
to the apostles and elders in Jerusalem.
These decided together with the whole congregation
choose some men from among them
and to send with Paul and Barnabas to Antioch:
Judas, nicknamed Barsabbas,
and Silas, men of distinction among the brethren,
and to give them the following writing:

The City

ON CARING FOR THE COMMON HOME

Be praised my Lord
1. “Be praised my Lord,” sang St Francis of Assisi. In
this beautiful hymn, he reminded us that our common home
is like a sister with whom we share existence, and like a beautiful
mother who takes us in her arms: “Be praised, my Lord, for our
sister earth, which nourishes and guides us and brings forth several fruits
with colourful flowers and herbs”.

Overweging
Dit is het derde deel van de Handelingen (het eerste deel vond plaats in Jeruzalem, het tweede buiten Jeruzalem, en het derde begon toen de jonge Kerk na het apostelconcilie openheid betrachtte naar de wereld toe). De continuïteit met Israël en Jeruzalem is verzekerd. Nu zien we alleen nog Paulus aan het werk in de missionering van de heidenen. Lucas geeft op zijn eigen wijze te kennen dat het plan van God de persoonlijke intenties van de missionarissen doorkruist. Het apostelconcilie is een keerpunt in de missionering. De bekering van de heidenen neemt ernstige proporties aan, en ook Europa ligt nu open voor de blijde boodschap. De overtocht van Klein Azië naar Macedonië staat hiervoor als symbool.

Uit de Handelingen van de Apostelen

In die dagen kwam Paulus te Derbe en Lystra.
Er was daar een leerling,
Timóteüs genaamd,
de zoon van een gelovig geworden Joodse vrouw,
maar van een Griekse vader.
Omdat hij bij de broeders van Lystra en Ikonium
een goede naam had
wenste Paulus hem als reisgezel.
Omwille van de Joden die in die streek woonden
liet hij hem besnijden,
want iedereen wist dat zijn vader een Griek was.
In de steden waar zij doorkwamen,
kondigden zij voor de gelovigen de besluiten af
die genomen waren door de apostelen en oudsten in Jeruzalem.
Zo werden de gemeenten versterkt in het geloof
en ze namen met de dag in omvang toe.
Daarna trokken ze door Frygië en de landstreek Galatië,
omdat zij door de Heilige Geest ervan weerhouden waren
het woord te verkondigen in Asia.
In Mysië gekomen
maakten zij aanstalten om naar Bitynië te reizen
maar de Geest van Jezus stond hun dit niet toe.
Zij trokken dus door Mysië en gingen naar Troas.
Daar had Paulus ’s nachts een visioen :
Er stond een Macedoniër voor hem die hem smeekte :
“Steek over naar Macedonië
en kom ons te hulp.”
Na zijn visioen zochten wij onmiddellijk een gelegenheid
naar Macedonië te vertrekken,
want we maakten er uit op
dat God ons geroepen had om hun het Evangelie te verkondigen.

Juicht voor de Heer, alle landen

Juicht voor de Heer, alle landen,

Esta es la tercera parte de los Hechos (la primera tuvo lugar en Jerusalén, la segunda fuera de Jerusalén, y la tercera comenzó cuando la joven Iglesia practicó la apertura al mundo tras el Concilio de los Apóstoles). La continuidad con Israel y Jerusalén está asegurada. Ahora sólo vemos a Pablo trabajando en la misión a los gentiles. Lucas indica a su manera que el plan de Dios trasciende las intenciones personales de los misioneros. El Concilio de los Apóstoles es un punto de inflexión en la labor misionera. La conversión de los paganos adquiere serias proporciones, y también Europa se abre ahora a la Buena Nueva. La travesía de Asia Menor a Macedonia es un símbolo de ello.

De los Hechos de los Apóstoles

En aquellos días, Pablo llegó a Derbe y Listra.
Había allí un discípulo
Llamado Timoteo,
hijo de una judía creyente,
pero de padre griego.
Como entre los hermanos de Listra y de Ikonio
tenía buena reputación
P ablo lo quiso como compañero de viaje.
Por el bien de los judíos que vivían en aquella región
lo circuncidó,
pues todos sabían que su padre era griego.
En las ciudades por donde pasaban
proclamaron para los creyentes los decretos
que habían dictado los apóstoles y los ancianos en Jerusalén.
Así las congregaciones se fortalecían en la fe
y crecían día a día.
Luego recorrieron Frigia y la región de Galacia,
porque habían sido restringidos por el Espíritu Santo de
de predicar la palabra en Asia.
Al llegar a Misia
hicieron preparativos para viajar a Bitinia
pero el Espíritu de Jesús no se lo permitió.
Así que pasaron por Misia y se dirigieron a Troas.
Allí, por la noche, Pablo tuvo una visión:
Un macedonio se puso delante de él y le suplicó :
“Cruza a Macedonia
y ven en nuestra ayuda”
Después de su visión, inmediatamente buscamos una oportunidad
para partir hacia Macedonia,
porque dedujimos
que Dios nos había llamado a predicarles el Evangelio.

Consideration
This is the third part of Acts (the first part took place in Jerusalem, the second outside Jerusalem, and the third began when the young Church practised openness to the world after the Apostles’ Council). Continuity with Israel and Jerusalem is assured. Now we only see Paul at work in the mission to the Gentiles. Luke indicates in his own way that God’s plan cuts across the personal intentions of the missionaries. The Apostles’ Council is a turning point in missionary work. The conversion of the pagans takes on serious proportions, and Europe too is now open to the Good News. The crossing from Asia Minor to Macedonia stands as a symbol of this.

FIRST READING     Acts 16:1-10
Cross over to Macedonia and come to our aid.

From the Acts of the Apostles

In those days Paul came to Derbe and Lystra.
There was a disciple there,
Called Timothy,
the son of a believing Jewish woman,
but of a Greek father.
Because among the brethren of Lystra and Ikonium he
had a good reputation
paul wished him as a travelling companion.
For the sake of the Jews who lived in that region
he had him circumcised,
for everyone knew that his father was a Greek.

After his vision, we immediately looked for an opportunity

for we inferred
that God had called us to preach the Gospel to them.

Consideración
Vemos que dos partes se enfrentan y la dicusión es feroz. Las posiciones son realmente extremas. Entonces habla la autoridad. No para decidir sin más, sino para reunir a las partes, que escuchan en silencio. Pedro se refiere a su propia experiencia con Cornelio. Dios mismo señaló la dirección. ¿Es posible oponerse a Dios? Entonces habla Santiago, el apóstol severo. Apunta en la dirección de un compromiso muy aceptable: nada de cargas innecesarias. así que todos llegan a un acuerdo.

PRIMERA LECTURA     Hechos 15:22-31
El Espíritu Santo y nosotros hemos decidido no imponeros una carga más pesada de lo necesario.

De los Hechos de los Apóstoles

En aquellos días, los apóstoles y los ancianos decidieron
junto con toda la comunidad
elegir algunos hombres de entre ellos
y enviarlos con Pablo y Bernabé a Antioquía :

Sobre la fraternidad y la amistad social

286. En estas reflexiones sobre la fraternidad universal, me he sentido
particularmente motivado por san Francisco y también por otros frailes
que no son católicos: Martin Luther King, Desmond Tutu, Mahatma
Gandhi y muchos otros. Pero quiero concluir con otra persona de
una fe profunda que, basándose en su intensa
Experiencia de Dios, recorrió un camino de cambio hasta sentirse hermano
se sintió hermano de todos. Me refiero al Beato Charles de Foucauld.
