Me permito llamar su atención sobre
la lectura diaria del Evangelio

Esta invitación quiere compartir contigo la alegría
del Evangelio. Todos, sin excepción,
puede experimentar esa alegría abriendo su corazón
al poder sanador de la palabra de Dios.

Consideración
Los cristianos no hablan ni actúan para su propia gloria y reconocimiento. Buscan referirse una y otra vez al Señor vivo. Por amor a Él, hacen lo que Él les ha mostrado. El salmo de respuesta encaja bien con esta aspiración de los apóstoles: “No nosotros, Señor, no nosotros, sino sea alabado tu Nombre”.

PRIMERA LECTURA     Hechos 14, 5-18

Debes apartarte de los dioses inútiles y volverte al Dios vivo.

De los Hechos de los Apóstoles

Cuando los gentiles y los judíos de Ikonium
junto con sus gobiernos
hicieron preparativos para maltratar y apedrear a Pablo y Bernabé
para maltratarlos y apedrearlos hasta la muerte,
tomaron,
tan pronto como se dieron cuenta de esto,
se refugiaron en las ciudades de Licaonia,
Listra, Derbe y sus alrededores.
También allí predicaron el Evangelio.
Había un hombre en Listra
que no tenía fuerza en los pies y tenía que permanecer sentado.
Era cojo de nacimiento
y nunca había podido caminar.
Mientras aquel hombre escuchaba el discurso de Pablo,
éste lo miró inquisitivamente
y vio que poseía la fe necesaria para salvarse.
Por lo tanto, habló con voz alzada :
“¡Ponte en pie, erguido!”
El hombre se levantó de un salto y se puso en pie.
Cuando la gente vio lo que Pablo había hecho
se pusieron a gritar
y gritaron en licaónico :
“Los dioses
han bajado a nosotros en forma humana”
A Bernabé le llamaban Zeus
y a Pablo, porque era el portavoz, Hermes.
El sacerdote del templo Zeus-fuera-de-la-ciudad
trajo toros embolados a las puertas
y quería ir a ofrecer un sacrificio junto con el pueblo.
Cuando los apóstoles Bernabé y Pablo oyeron esto
se rasgaron las vestiduras
y se lanzaron entre la gente
gritando en voz alta :
“¡Hombres!
¿qué vais a hacer ahora?
“Nosotros también somos seres humanos
como vosotros.
“Os traemos la Buena Nueva
que debéis apartaros de estos dioses sin valor
y volverse al Dios vivo
que hizo los cielos y la tierra
y el mar y todo lo que hay en él.
“En tiempos pasados, Él dejó que todas las naciones se salieran con la suya ,
pero no dejó de dar testimonio de sí mismo
concediendo beneficios:
Porque desde el cielo os concedió
lluvia y estaciones fructíferas
y os alegró con abundancia de alimentos”
Pero incluso estas palabras
apenas pudieron disuadir al pueblo de
dedicarles un sacrificio.

Judas – no Iscariote – le dijo :
“Señor,
¿Cómo es que te revelas a nosotros y no al mundo?
Jesús le contestó
“El que me ama
guardará mi palabra;
mi Padre le amará
y vendremos a Él y nos quedaremos con Él.
“Quien no me ama
no guarda Mis palabras ;
la palabra que oís no viene de Mí
sino del Padre que me ha enviado.
“Esto os digo mientras estoy con vosotros ,
pero el Consolador

Sobre la fraternidad y la amistad social

282. También “los creyentes deben encontrar un espacio para dialogar
y actuar juntos por el bien común y
el apoyo a los más pobres entre los pobres. No se trata de que todos seamos más
luz y ocultar nuestras propias creencias, a las que estamos más
a las que estamos más apegados, para encontrarnos con otros que piensan diferente
pensar[…] porque cuanto más profunda, cercana y rica sea una identidad, más
podrá enriquecer al otro con su aportación específica”.
Como creyentes, tenemos el reto de volver a nuestras fuentes para
centrarnos en lo esencial: el culto a Dios y la caridad,
para que ciertos aspectos de nuestra enseñanza, sacados de contexto,
no se conviertan en formas de desprecio, odio, xenofobia y negación
del otro. La verdad es que la violencia no se basa en las creencias religiosas fundamentales, sino en sus tergiversaciones
creencias religiosas, sino en sus distorsiones.

Consideration
Christians do not speak and act for their own glory and recognition. They seek to refer again and again to the living Lord. Out of love for Him, they do as He has shown them. The response psalm hooks well into this aspiration of the apostles: ‘Not us, Lord, not us, but your Name be praised’.

FIRST READING         Acts 14, 5-18
Thou must turn away from the worthless gods and turn to the living God.

From the Acts of the Apostles

When the Gentiles and the Jews of Ikonium
together with their governments
made preparations to mistreat and stone Paul and Barnabas
to abuse and stone them to death,
they took,
as soon as they noticed this,
took refuge in the Lycaonian cities,
Lystra, Derbe and their environs.
There too they preached the Gospel.
There was a man in Lystra
who had no strength in his feet and had to remain seated.
He had been lame from birth
and had never been able to walk.
As that man listened to Paul’s speech,
the latter looked at him inquiringly
and saw that he possessed the faith to be saved.
Therefore, he spoke with a raised voice :
“Get to your feet, upright!”
The man jumped up and walked around.
When the people saw what Paul had done
they began to shout
and they shouted in Lykaonic :
“The gods
have come down to us in human form.”
Barnabas they called Zeus
and Paul, because he was the spokesman, Hermes.
The priest of the temple Zeus-outside-the-city
brought wreathed bulls to the gates
and wanted to go and offer a sacrifice together with the people.
When the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard this
they tore their clothes
and dashed among the people,
shouting loudly :
“Men!
what are you going to do now?
“We too are human beings
just like you.
“We bring you the Good News
that ye must turn away from these worthless gods,
and turn to the living God
who made the heavens and the earth
and the sea and all that is therein.
“In times gone by, He let all nations have their way ,
but He did not fail to bear witness to Himself
by bestowing benefits :
For from heaven He bestowed on you
rain and fruitful seasons
and gladdened you with abundance of food.”
But even these words
could hardly deter the people from
dedicating a sacrifice to them.

282. Also “believers must find space to engage in dialogue
and act together for the common good and
the support of the poorest of the poor. It is not about us all becoming more
light and hiding our own beliefs, to which we are most
attached to, in order to meet others who think differently
thinking[…] because the deeper, closer and richer an identity is, the more
will it be able to enrich the other with its own specific contribution”.
As believers, we are challenged to return to our sources to
focus on the essentials: the worship of God and charity,
so that certain aspects of our teaching, taken out of context,
do not turn into forms of contempt, hatred, xenophobia and denial
of the other. The truth is that violence finds no basis in fundamental
religious beliefs, but in their distortions.

het dagelijks lezen van het evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil de vreugde van het evangelie met u delen.
Iedereen, zonder uitzondering,

Overweging

De plotselinge vermelding van Paulus en zijn metgezellen is merkwaardig. Barnabas ging hem in Tarsus halen als helper. Hij ging met Saulus naar Jeruzalem om geld te halen. Saulus staat als laatste op de lijst van degenen die naar Antiochië worden gezonden. Op Cyprus wordt hij plotseling Paulus en wil hij het leiderschap niet meer afstaan. Barnabas wordt zijn tweede man en zal de volgende zendingsreis niet eens meer meemaken. Aangezien we de verbazingwekkende persoonlijkheid van Paulus kennen, niet alleen uit de Handelingen, maar ook uit zijn brieven, kan dit ons niet meer verbazen.

EERSTE LEZING          Handelingen 13:44-52
Wij richten ons voortaan tot de heidenen.

Uit de Handelingen van de Apostelen

Op de volgende sabbat kwam bijna de hele stad bijeen
om naar het woord van God te luisteren.
Bij het zien van die grote menigte
werden de Joden zeer jaloers
en beantwoordden ze de uiteenzetting van Paulusmet spot.
Toen verklaarden Paulus en Barnabas moedig:
‘Aan jullie moest het woord van God eerst worden verkondigd,
maar omdat jullie het verwerpen en jezelf niet waardig achten voor het eeuwige leven,
richten wij ons voortaan tot de heidenen.
Want zo luidt het gebod van de Heer aan ons:
Ik heb u als een licht voor de heidenen geplaatst,
opdat gij tot aan de einden der aarde zult komen om te redden.
Toen de heidenen dit hoorden,
verheugden zij zich en verheerlijkten het woord van God,
en allen die voor het eeuwige leven bestemd waren,
aanvaardden het geloof.
Het woord van de Heer verspreidde zich in het hele gebied,
maar de Joden zetten de godvrezende vrouwen
uit de vooraanstaande kringen
en de vooraanstaande burgers van de stad
aan tegen Paulus en Barnabas
en verdreven hen uit hun gebied
Deze schudden het stof van hun voeten
als teken dat zij met hen gebroken hadden
en gingen naar Iconium.
De discipelen echter waren vervuld van vreugde
en van de Heilige Geest.

TUSSENZANG            Ps. 98(97), 1, 2-3ab, 3cd-4

De hele aarde aanschouwde
wat onze God voor ons deed.

Zing voor de Heer een nieuw gezang
omdat Hij wonderen deed.
Zijn hand deed zich krachtig gelden,

Zijn weldaden deed Hij ons kennen
de volkeren zijn gerechtigheid.
Opnieuw bleek zijn goedheid en trouw

‘Heer, laat ons de Vader zien;
dat is genoeg voor ons. ‘En Jezus weer:
‘Ik ben al zo lang bij jullie en jullie kennen Mij nog niet, Filippus?
‘Wie Mij ziet, ziet de Vader.
‘Hoe kunnen jullie dan zeggen:
Laat ons de Vader zien?

Over broederschap en sociale vriendschap

280. Tegelijkertijd vragen we God om de eenheid in de Kerk te versterken,
een eenheid die verrijkt wordt door verscheidenheid die met elkaar wordt
verzoend door het werk van de Heilige Geest. ‘Wij allen […] zijn
immers door één Geest gedoopt tot één lichaam (1 Kor. 12:13), waarin ieder
zijn specifieke bijdrage levert. Zoals de heilige Augustinus zei: ‘ziet het oor
door middel van het oog en hoort het oog door middel van het oor’. Het
is ook dringend noodzakelijk om te blijven getuigen van een weg van ontmoeting
tussen de verschillende christelijke belijdenissen. We mogen
niet het verlangen vergeten dat Jezus tot uitdrukking bracht: dat ‘allen één mogen zijn
zijn’ (Joh. 17:21). Als we naar zijn uitnodiging luisteren, erkennen we met
leedwezen dat het globaliseringsproces nog steeds de profetische en spirituele
bijdrage van de eenheid onder alle christenen mist. Desondanks ‘hebben we,
ook al zijn we nog op weg naar volledige gemeenschap, vanaf nu de plicht
om een gemeenschappelijk getuigenis te geven van Gods liefde voor allen
door samen te werken in de dienst van de mensheid.

Consideración
Es curioso que de repente se hable de Pablo y sus compañeros. Bernabé fue a buscarle a Tarso como ayudante. Fue con Saulo a Jerusalén a traer dinero. Saulo es el último en la lista de los enviados en Antioquía. En Chipre, de repente se convierte en Pablo y no cede el liderazgo. Bernabé se convierte en el segundo al mando y ni siquiera verá el siguiente viaje misionero. Dado que conocemos la asombrosa personalidad de Pablo, no sólo en los Hechos sino también por sus cartas, esto ya no puede sorprendernos.

PRIMERA LECTURA       Hechos 13:44-52
En adelante nos dirigiremos a los gentiles.

De los Hechos de los Apóstoles

El sábado siguiente, casi toda la ciudad se reunió
para escuchar la palabra de Dios.
A la vista de aquella gran muchedumbre
los judíos se volvieron muy envidiosos
y respondieron a la exposición de Pablo
con burlas.
Entonces Pablo y Bernabé declararon audazmente :
“A vosotros, aunque la palabra de Dios tuvo que ser pronunciada primero ,
pero como vosotros la rechazáis y no os consideráis dignos de la vida eterna
nos dirigimos a los gentiles.
“Porque así nos ha mandado el Señor :
Te he puesto por luz de los gentiles ,
para que llegues hasta los confines de la tierra para salvación”
Cuando los gentiles oyeron esto
se regocijaron y glorificaron la palabra de Dios,
y todos los que estaban destinados a la vida eterna
aceptaron la fe.
La palabra del Señor se extendió por toda aquella región,
pero los judíos incitaron a las mujeres temerosas de Dios
que provenían de los círculos dirigentes
así como los principales ciudadanos de la ciudad ;
provocaron una persecución contra Pablo y Bernabé
y los expulsaron de su territorio
Estos les sacudieron el polvo de los pies
en señal de que habían roto con ellos
y se fueron a Ikonium.
Los discípulos, sin embargo, estaban llenos de alegría
y del Espíritu Santo.

Toda la tierra contempló
lo que nuestro Dios hizo por nosotros

Cantad al Señor un cántico nuevo
porque Él hizo maravillas
Su mano se impuso poderosamente

De nuevo su bondad y fidelidad se manifestaron
en favor de la casa de Israel.

con eso nos basta. “Y Jesús de nuevo :
“¿Tanto tiempo hace que estoy con vosotros y aún no me conocéis Felipe?
“El que me ve a Mí, ve al Padre.
“¿Cómo, pues, podéis decir :
Muéstranos al Padre
“¿No creéis que Yo estoy en el Padre y el Padre está en Mí?
“Las palabras que os digo no las hablo de Mí mismo,
sino que es el Padre quien,
en Mí, realiza Su obra.
“Creedme:
Yo estoy en el Padre y el Padre está en Mí.
“O bien creedlo por las obras.
“En verdad, en verdad os digo :
el que cree en Mí
hará también por sí mismo las obras que yo hago.
“Y aun mayores que éstas hará

Sobre la fraternidad y la amistad social

280. Al mismo tiempo, pedimos a Dios que fortalezca la unidad en la Iglesia,
una unidad enriquecida por la diversidad que
reconcilia por la acción del Espíritu Santo. “Todos nosotros […] somos
al fin y al cabo, bautizados por un solo Espíritu en un solo cuerpo (1 Co 12,13), en el que cada uno tiene
aporta su contribución específica. Como decía San Agustín, “el oído ve
a través del ojo y oye el ojo a través del oído”. La
urge también seguir testimoniando un camino de encuentro
entre las distintas confesiones cristianas. No debemos
olvidar el deseo que expresó Jesús: que “todos sean uno
sean uno” (Jn 17,21). Escuchando su invitación, reconocemos con
que el proceso de globalización sigue socavando la aportación profética
y espiritual de la unidad entre todos los cristianos.
Sin embargo aunque estemos todavía en camino hacia la plena comunión,
desde ahora tenemos el
deber de dar un testimonio común del amor de Dios por
todos trabajando juntos al servicio de la humanidad”.

Consideration

The sudden mention of Paul and his companions is curious. Barnabas went to get him in Tarsus as a helper. He went with Saul to Jerusalem to get money. Saul is last on the list of those sent to Antioch. In Cyprus, he suddenly becomes Paul and does not want to relinquish leadership. Barnabas becomes his second-in-command and will not even live to see the next missionary journey. Since we know Paul’s amazing personality, not only from Acts but also from his letters, this could not surprise us more.

On the following Sabbath, almost the whole city gathered together
to listen to the word of God.
At the sight of that great crowd
the Jews became very jealous
and answered Paul’s exposition withmockery.

‘To you the word of God was to be proclaimed first ,
but since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life,
henceforth we address ourselves to the Gentiles.
For such is the Lord’s commandment to us:

When the Gentiles heard this ,
they rejoiced and glorified the word of God,

against Paul and Barnabas
and drove them out of their area
These shook the dust from their feet
as a sign that they had broken with them
and went to Iconium.
The disciples, however, were filled with joy
and of the Holy Spirit.

‘Then how can you say:
‘Let us see the Father?
‘Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in Me?
The words I speak to you, I do not speak of Myself,
but it is the Father who,
abiding in Me, performs His work.
Believe Me:
I am in the Father and the Father is in Me.
Or believe it for the sake of works.
Verily, verily, I say unto you:
whoever believes in Me
shall also himself do the works that I do.
Yes, he will do even greater works
because I am going to the Father.
And whatever you ask in My name ,
i will do
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask Me anything in My name
i will do it.

280. At the same time, we ask God to strengthen unity in the Church,
a unity enriched by diversity that is being
reconciled by the work of the Holy Spirit. ‘We all […] are
after all, baptised by one Spirit into one body (1 Cor. 12:13), in which each one
makes his specific contribution. As St Augustine said, ’the ear sees
through the eye and hears the eye through the ear’. The
is also urgent to continue witnessing to a path of encounter
between the different Christian confessions. We must
not forget the desire that Jesus expressed: that ‘all may be one
be one’ (John 17:21). Listening to his invitation, we acknowledge with
sorrow that the process of globalisation continues to undermine the prophetic and spiritual
contribution of unity among all Christians. Nevertheless, ‘we have ,
even though we are still on the road to full communion, from now on we have a duty
to give a common witness of God’s love for all
by working together in the service of humanity.

Invitation

May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?

This invitation wants to share with You the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.

Consideration
It is curious that suddenly there is talk of Paul and his companions. Barnabas went to get him in Tarsus as a helper. He went with Saul to Jerusalem to bring money. Saul is last in the list of those sent in Antioch. In Cyprus, he suddenly becomes Paul and will not relinquish leadership. Barnabas becomes second in command and will not even see the next missionary journey. Since we know the amazing personality of Paul, not only in Acts but also from his letters, this can no longer surprise us.

FIRST READING Acts 13:44-52

We address ourselves henceforth to the Gentiles.

From the Acts of the Apostles

The next Sabbath, almost the whole city gathered together
to listen to the word of God.
At the sight of that great crowd
the Jews became very envious
and answered Paul’s exposition
with taunts.
Then Paul and Barnabas boldly declared :
“To you, though the word of God had to be spoken first ,
but since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life,
therefore henceforth we address ourselves to the Gentiles.
“For thus reads the Lord’s command to us :
I have placed thee as a light unto the Gentiles ,
that thou mayest reach to the ends of the earth for salvation.”
When the Gentiles heard this
they rejoiced and glorified the word of God,
and all who were destined to eternal life
accepted the faith.
The word of the Lord spread throughout that region,
but the Jews incited the God-fearing women
who came from the leading circles
as well as the city’s leading citizens ;
they caused a persecution against Paul and Barnabas
and expelled them from their territory
These shook the dust from their feet
in token that they had broken with them
and went to Ikonium.
The disciples, however, were filled with joy
and of the Holy Spirit.

De Heer is waarlijk verrezen

Overweging
De rede van Paulus in Antiochië van Pisidië wordt in twee delen gesplitst. We kennen die vroege (verkondigings) redevoeringen tot de joden. Uitgaande van een stuk geschiedenis van het godsvolk, wordt Jezus als de Christus verkondigd. Dit is de kern van de boodschap: Gekruisigd, ten leven gewekt, levend bij God. De lezing van vandaag breekt af op het ogenblik dat Paulus psalm 2 citeert. Psalm 2 is dan ook een passende antwoordpsalm op deze lezing.

EERSTE LEZING            Hand. 13, 26-33

God heeft de belofte vervuld door Jezus te doen verrijzen.

Uit de Handelingen van de Apostelen

In die dagen, toen Paulus te Antiochië in Pisidië gekomen was,
zei hij in de synagoge :
“Mannen broeders,
zonen uit Abrahams geslacht en godvrezenden onder u :
Tot ons is dit woord van verlossing gezonden.
“Want doordat de inwoners van Jeruzalem en hun overheden
Jezus niet erkend hebben maar veroordeeld,
deden zij de uitspraken van de profeten in vervulling gaan
die elke sabbat worden voorgelezen.
“Ofschoon ze geen enkele rechtsgrond konden vinden
voor de doodstraf
hebben ze van Pilatus geëist dat Hij ter dood gebracht werd.

In die tijd zei Jezus tot zijn leerlingen :
“Laat uw hart niet verontrust worden.
“Gij gelooft in God,
gelooft ook in Mij.
“In het huis van mijn Vader is ruimte voor velen.
“Ware dit niet zo
dan zou Ik het u hebben gezegd,
want Ik ga heen om een plaats voor u te bereiden.
“En als Ik ben heengegaan en een plaats voor u heb bereid
kom Ik terug om u op te nemen bij Mij,
opdat ook gij zult zijn waar Ik ben.
“Gij weet waar Ik heenga
en ook de weg daarheen is u bekend.”
Tomas zei tot Hem :
“Heer, wij weten niet waar Gij heengaat :
Hoe moeten wij dan de weg kennen?”
Jezus antwoordde hem :
“Ik ben de weg
de waarheid en het leven.
“Niemand komt tot de Vader tenzij door Mij.”
