Reflexiones
Dos ideas de Lucas se desprenden claramente de la lectura. En primer lugar, la idea de que la persecución impulsó la misionización. Después, tras la aceptación oficial del primer gentil, prosigue también la misionización de los gentiles. Otras dos cosas llaman la atención. Antioquía es una ciudad grande e importante y se convertirá en una de las ciudades satélite desde las que se planifican iniciativas de forma independiente. Sin embargo, a través de Bernabé, también se conserva bien el vínculo con la primitiva iglesia de Jerusalén.

PRIMERA LECTURA  Hechos 11:19-26
Fueron también a los griegos y les anunciaron al Señor Jesús.

De los Hechos de los Apóstoles

En aquellos días
los que se habían dispersado a causa de la persecución
llegaron hasta Fenicia, Chipre y Antioquía,
mientras predicaban la palabra sólo a los judíos.
Pero había entre ellos hombres de Chipre y de Cirene,
que después de su llegada a Antioquía también fueron a los griegos y les predicaron al Señor Jesús
y les predicaron al Señor Jesús.
La mano del Señor estaba con ellos
de modo que un gran número de ellos aceptó la fe
y se convirtieron al Señor.
El rumor de su aparición
llegó a oídos de la iglesia de Jerusalén, y enviaron a Bernabé a Antioquía

276. Por estas razones, la Iglesia, respetando la autonomía de la esfera política, no
política, no relega su propia misión a la esfera privada. Al contrario,
al contrario, “no puede ni debe permanecer al margen” en la construcción de un mundo mejor, ni dejar de “despertar las fuerzas espirituales” de la Iglesia

Two visions of Luke emerge clearly in the reading. First and foremost, the insight that persecution drove missionisation. Then, after the official acceptance of the first Gentile, the missionisation of the Gentiles also continues. Two other things are noticeable. Antioch is a large important city and will become one of the satellite cities from which initiatives are planned independently. Yet through Barnabas, the link with the primordial church in Jerusalem is also well preserved.

then tell us plainly.’

‘I have told thee

but ye believe it not.

‘The works that I do in the name of My Father ,

they bear witness about Me.

‘But ye believe not ,

because ye are not of My sheep.

276. For these reasons, the Church, while respecting the autonomy of the

politics, does not relegate her own mission to the private sphere. On the contrary,

‘it cannot and must not remain on the sidelines’ in building a

better world, nor fail to ‘reawaken the spiritual forces’

which can fertilise the whole of social life. Admittedly, religious

ministers not engage in party politics peculiar to the laity, but they

nor should they renounce the political dimension of existence, which requires

constant attention to the common good and concern for integral

human development. The Church ‘has a public role, which

is not limited to its commitment to care and education’, but which participates

to the ‘support of man and universal brotherhood’.

It does not seek to compete for earthly power, but to offer itself

offer itself as ‘a family among families – that is the Church – that is open to it

open […] to the contemporary world to bear witness to the

faith, hope and love for the Lord and for those whom He prefers

love. A house with open doors. The Church is a house with open doors,

Overweging
Petrus geeft aan de gemeente in Jeruzalem het officiële verslag van de eerste opname van een heiden in de kerk. Typerend voor Lucas is de beschrijving dat Petrus uit eigen beweging naar Joppa gaat – wat een Joodse stad was. Naar Caesarea, de niet-Joodse stad, wordt hij ‘geroepen’: voor Lucas is God daar aan het werk. Door het hele boek Handelingen heen zal het altijd duidelijk zijn dat Lucas groot belang hecht aan de werking van Gods Geest, die de kerk en haar dienaren leidt.

God heeft ook aan de heidenen bekering tot het leven geschonken.

Uit de Handelingen der Apostelen

In die dagen hoorden de apostelen en de broeders in Judea
dat ook de heidenen het woord van God hadden aangenomen.
Toen Petrus dan naar Jeruzalem kwam
maakten de gelovigen van de besnijdenis hem verwijten:
“Gij zijt binnengegaan in het huis der onbesnedenen
en gij hebt met hen gegeten.”
Nu begon Petrus hen regelmatig rekenschap te geven:
“Ik was
-zo zei hij –
in de stad Joppa aan het bidden
toen ik in een geestvervoering een visioen zag:
Een voorwerp, in de vorm van een groot laken ,
dat aan de vier punten uit de hemel was neergelaten,
daalde neer uit de hemel en kwam dicht bij mij.
“Ik keek er met gespannen aandacht naar
en zag viervoetige dieren,

Deze gelijkenis vertelde Jezus hen,
maar ze begrepen niet wat Hij hen wilde vertellen.
Een andere keer zei Jezus tegen hen:
“Voorwaar, voorwaar, Ik zeg u:
Ik ben de deur van de schapen.
Allen die vóór Mij gekomen zijn, zijn dieven en rovers ,
maar de schapen hebben niet naar hen geluisterd.
Ik ben de deur.
Als iemand door Mij binnenkomt
zal hij gered worden;
hij zal binnengaan en uitgaan en weide vinden.
De dief komt alleen om te stelen, te slachten en te vernietigen.
Ik ben gekomen om hen het leven te geven ,
en overvloedig.”

Over broederschap en sociale vriendschap

275. We moeten erkennen dat “een van de belangrijkste oorzaken van de
crisis van de moderne wereld een afgestompt menselijk geweten en een
vervreemding van religieuze waarden, evenals de overheersing
van het individualisme en van materialistische filosofieën die de mens vergoddelijken
vergoddelijkt en wereldse en materiële waarden in de plaats stelt
van de hoogste en transcendente principes”. Het is niet aanvaardbaar dat
in het publieke debat alleen de machtigen en de wetenschappers een
stem hebben. Er moet ruimte zijn voor reflectie vanuit een
religieuze achtergrond, die eeuwen van ervaring en wijsheid bevat.
“Klassieke religieuze teksten kunnen een betekenis bieden die bestemd is
voor alle tijden en een motiverende kracht bezitten”, maar in feite
“worden ze veracht op grond van de beperkte visie van vormen van
rationalisme”.

Consideración
Pedro da a la congregación de Jerusalén el relato oficial de la primera admisión de un gentil en la Iglesia. Típica de Lucas es la descripción de que Pedro va por su propia voluntad a Jope , que era una ciudad judía. A Cesarea, la ciudad gentil, es “llamado”: allí, para Lucas, actúa Dios. A lo largo del libro de los Hechos, siempre quedará claro que Lucas concede gran importancia a la acción del Espíritu de Dios, que guía a la Iglesia y a sus ministros.

PRIMERA LECTURA  Hechos 11, 1-18

Dios ha concedido la conversión a la vida también a los gentiles.

De los Hechos de los Apóstoles

En aquellos días los apóstoles y los hermanos de Judea oyeron
que también los gentiles habían aceptado la palabra de Dios.
Cuando Pedro llegó a Jerusalén
los creyentes de la circuncisión le reprocharon :
“Has entrado en casa de la incircuncisión
y has comido con ellos”
Ahora Pedro comenzó a darles cuenta regularmente :
“Fui
-así dijo
en la ciudad de Jope orando
cuando en un rapto de espíritu vi una visión :
Un objeto, en forma de una gran sábana ,
que bajaba del cielo por los cuatro puntos,
descendió del cielo y se acercó a mí.
“Lo miré con tensa atención
y vi animales cuadrúpedos,
bestias salvajes, animales rastreros y aves.
“Además, oí una voz que me decía :
Vamos Pedro, mata y come.
“Pero yo dije :
De ninguna manera, Señor,
porque nunca entró en mi boca nada impuro o inmundo.
“Pero la voz del cielo se hizo oír por segunda vez
y me dio por respuesta :
No consideres impuro
lo que Dios ha declarado limpio.

que ya hemos creído en el Señor Jesucristo ,
¿cómo, pues, habría podido detener a Dios?”
Cuando hubieron oído aquello
se tranquilizaron
y glorificaron a Dios con las palabras :

la conversión a la vida”

En otra ocasión les dijo Jesús

Yo soy la puerta de las ovejas.
Todos los que han venido antes que Yo son ladrones y salteadores ,
pero las ovejas no les han hecho caso.
Yo soy la puerta.
Si alguno entra por Mí
se salvará;
entrará y saldrá y hallará pastos.
El ladrón sólo viene a robar, matar y destruir.
Yo he venido para que tengan vida
y en abundancia”

Sobre la fraternidad y la amistad social

275. Hay que reconocer que “entre las principales causas de la
crisis del mundo moderno se encuentran una conciencia humana adormecida y una
alienación de los valores religiosos, así como el predominio
del individualismo y de las filosofías materialistas que divinizan al hombre
endiosado y que ponen los valores mundanos y materiales en el lugar
de los principios más elevados y trascendentes”. No es aceptable que
en el debate público sólo los poderosos y los científicos tengan
voz. Debe haber espacio para la reflexión que proviene de un
trasfondo religioso, que contiene siglos de experiencia y sabiduría.
“Los textos religiosos clásicos pueden ofrecer un significado destinado
para todos los tiempos y poseer un poder motivador”, pero de hecho
“son despreciados por la visión limitada de las formas de
racionalismo”.

Consideration

Peter gives to the congregation in Jerusalem the official account of a gentile’s first admission into the church. Typical of Luke is the description that Peter goes of his own accord to Joppa – which was a Jewish city. To Caesarea, the gentile city, he is ‘called’: there, for Luke, God is at work. Throughout the book of Acts, it will always be clear that Luke attaches great importance to the working of God’s Spirit, who guides the Church and its ministers.

FIRST READING           Acts 11:1-18

God has granted conversion to life to the Gentiles too.

From the Acts of the Apostles

In those days the apostles and the brethren in Judea heard
that the Gentiles too had accepted the word of God.
When Peter then came to Jerusalem
the believers from the circumcision reproached him :
‘Thou hast entered the house of uncircumcision
and thou hast eaten with them.’
Now Peter began to give them a regular account :
‘I was
-so he said –
in the city of Joppa praying
when, in a spirit rapture, I saw a vision :
An object, in the form of a large sheet ,
which was lowered from heaven at the four points,
I looked at it with tense attention
and saw four-footed animals,
wild beasts, crawling animals and birds.
‘Moreover, I heard a voice saying to me :
Come on Peter, slaughter and eat.
‘But I said :
That by no means, Lord,
for never did anything unholy or unclean enter my mouth.
‘But the voice from heaven made itself heard a second time
And gave me in answer :
Do not consider as unholy
What God has declared clean.
‘This happened three times
and then everything was lifted up to heaven again.
‘Immediately after that
three men joined me at the house where we were staying ;
they had been sent to me from Caesarea.
‘The Spirit commanded me
without a second thought to go with them.
‘These six brothers also went with me
and we entered that man’s house.
‘He told us
how he had seen an angel standing in his house saying :
Send someone to Joppe
To get Simon, nicknamed Peter.
‘Who will tell you
in what way thou and all thy house may find salvation.
‘Just then I had begun to speak
when the Holy Spirit came down on them,
in the beginning also on us.
‘Then I thought back to the word of the Lord,
how He had said :
John baptised with water
but ye shall be baptised with the Holy Spirit.
‘Now if God gave them the same gift as to us
who already believed in the Lord Jesus Christ ,
how then would I have been able to stop God?’
When they had heard that
they were reassured
and they glorified God with the words :
‘So God has also given to the Gentiles
conversion to life.’

I am the door of the sheep.

From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John

At that time Jesus said:
‘Verily, verily, I say unto you:
Whoever does not pass through the door
but by another way enters the sheepfold ,
he is a thief and a robber.
But he who enters by the door
is the shepherd of the sheep.
Him the doorkeeper opens.
The sheep listen to his voice;
calls the sheep by their names and leads them out.
And when he has brought out all his sheep
he goes out before them,
while they follow him because they know his voice.
A stranger, however, they will not follow;
on the contrary, they will flee from him
because they do not know the voice of strangers.’
This parable Jesus told them,
but they did not understand what He wanted to tell them.
Another time Jesus said to them:
‘Verily, verily, I say to you:
I am the door of the sheep.
All who have come before Me are thieves and robbers ,
but the sheep have not listened to them.
I am the door.
If anyone enters through Me
he will be saved;
he will enter and go out and find pasture.
the thief comes only to steal, slaughter and destroy.
I have come that they may possess life ,
and abundantly so.’

On brotherhood and social friendship

275. It must be recognised that ‘among the main causes of the
crisis of the modern world are a numbed human conscience and an
alienation from religious values, as well as the predominance
of individualism and of materialist philosophies that deify man
deified and put worldly and material values in the place
of the highest and transcendent principles’. It is not acceptable that
in public debate only the powerful and the scientists have a
voice. There must be room for reflection that comes from a
religious background, containing centuries of experience and wisdom.
‘Classical religious texts can offer a meaning destined
for all times and possess a motivating power’, but in fact
‘they are despised on the grounds of the limited vision of forms of rationalism’.

¿Me permite llamar su atención sobre
la lectura diaria del Evangelio?
Esta invitación quiere hacerle partícipe de la alegría
del Evangelio. Todos, sin excepción,

Palabra de apertura

Nuestro mundo se balancea
por las olas de la vida y del tiempo.
A veces sentimos fuerza, otras veces desánimo.
Sin embargo, en las tormentas de nuestra vida no estamos solos.
Cristo es el ancla firme de nuestra salvación.
Como buen pastor, nos llama
y nos saca del agua.
Hoy, Domingo de las Vocaciones, rezamos a Dios
para que digamos «sí» a su llamada
y nos convirtamos en sembradores de esperanza en la vida de muchos
y en un mundo que busca perspectivas.

PRIMERA LECTURA                Hch 13, 14.43-52

De ahora en adelante nos dedicaremos a los paganos.

De los Hechos de los Apóstoles

En aquellos días, Pablo y Bernabé
por Perge hacia Antioquía de Pisidia,
donde entraron en la sinagoga el día de reposo.
Al terminar la celebración en la sinagoga,
muchos judíos y prosélitos piadosos
se unieron a Pablo y a Bernabé,
quienes les hablaron y les exhortaron
a permanecer en la gracia de Dios.
El sábado siguiente se reunió casi toda la ciudad
para escuchar la palabra de Dios.
Al ver aquella gran multitud,
los judíos se llenaron de envidia
y respondieron con insultos a la exposición de Pablo.
Entonces Pablo y Bernabé declararon con toda libertad:
«A vosotros primero había que anunciaros la palabra de Dios,
pero vosotros la rechazáis
y no os consideráis dignos de la vida eterna,
por eso nos dirigimos ahora a los gentiles.
Porque así nos lo ha ordenado el Señor:
«Yo te he destinado como luz para los gentiles,
para que lleves la salvación
hasta los confines de la tierra».
Al oír esto, los paganos se alegraron y glorificaron la palabra de Dios,
y todos los que estaban destinados a la vida eterna
abrazaron la fe.
La palabra del Señor se difundió por toda aquella región,
pero los judíos incitaron a las mujeres piadosas
que pertenecían a las clases influyentes,
así como a los principales ciudadanos de la ciudad;
y provocaron una persecución contra Pablo y Bernabé
y los expulsaron de su territorio.
Estos sacudieron el polvo de sus pies en señal de ruptura con ellos
y se fueron a Iconio.
Sin embargo, los discípulos estaban llenos de alegría
y del Espíritu Santo.

Entrebillo

Somos su rebaño y su pueblo.
Aclamad al Señor, todas las naciones,
servid al Señor con alegría,

El Cordero los pastoreará y los llevará a las fuentes de la vida.

De la Revelación del santo apóstol Juan

Yo, Juan, vi una gran multitud, que nadie podía contar,
de todas las razas y tribus y pueblos y lenguas.
Estaban delante del trono y delante del Cordero,
vestidos con túnicas blancas y con palmas en las manos.
Entonces uno de los ancianos me dijo:
«Estos son los que han salido de la gran tribulación
y han lavado sus túnicas
en la sangre del Cordero.
Por eso están delante del trono de Dios
y le sirven día y noche en su templo,
y el que está sentado en el trono
extenderá sobre ellos su tienda.
Nunca más pasarán hambre ni sed,
ni el sol ni el calor del desierto los afligirán,
porque el Cordero que está en medio del trono
los pastoreará y los guiará a fuentes de aguas vivas
y Dios enjugará toda lágrima de sus ojos».

Sobre la fraternidad y la amistad social

274. Partiendo de nuestra experiencia de fe y de la sabiduría acumulada a lo largo de los siglos, pero también aprendiendo de nuestras numerosas debilidades y caídas, los creyentes de las diversas religiones sabemos que Dios es un Dios de misericordia y de amor, que nos ha creado a todos y que quiere que vivamos juntos en paz y armonía. Buscar a Dios con un corazón sincero, sin oscurecerlo con nuestros intereses ideológicos o instrumentales, nos ayuda a reconocernos mutuamente como hermanos y hermanas, y a reconocer que Dios, que es uno, es también la fuente de la unidad de todos los hombres. religiones, que lo que Dios propone hoy es bueno para nuestra sociedad.  Buscar a Dios con un corazón sincero, siempre que no lo oscurezcamos con nuestros intereses ideológicos o instrumentales, nos ayuda a reconocernos como compañeros de viaje, como verdaderos hermanos y hermanas. Creemos que«cuando, en nombre de una ideología, se quiere expulsar a Dios de la sociedad, en última instancia se adoran ídolos y el hombre pronto se pierde a sí mismo, se pisotea su dignidad y se violan sus derechos. Ustedes saben bien a qué atrocidades puede conducir la privación de la libertad de conciencia y de religión, y cómo esa herida da lugar a una humanidad radicalmente empobrecida, porque se ve privada de la esperanza y de referencias ideales».

de dagelijkse lezing van het Evangelie

Deze uitnodiging wil met u de vreugde delen van het Evangelie
van het Evangelie. Iedereen, zonder uitzondering
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn of haar hart te openen
voor de helende kracht van Gods woord.

Elke dag beschikbaar.

Overweging
Naar wie zullen we gaan? Dit is Petrus’ antwoord op Jezus’ vraag, op een moment dat veel leerlingen zich terugtrekken en hem willen verlaten. Verzet en onbegrip ontstaan tegenover wat Jezus en zijn Kerk te zeggen hebben. Zijn vlees eten en zijn bloed drinken: dat begint toch wel heel vreemd te klinken. Elke dag, of in ieder geval regelmatig, horen we dezelfde woorden in de eucharistie. Misschien zijn we ons nog nauwelijks bewust van de betekenis van die woorden. Jezus wil weten waar we vandaag staan. er zijn sommigen onder jullie die geen geloof hebben’. Kan Jezus op ons rekenen?
